This, BTW, is why you can’t eat salads in Mexico.

Or perhaps, the hot pepper.

Oh, you can eat them... they'll just eat you right back.

Don't forget about the ice in your drinks (while you avoid actually drinking the water).

But we're missing the point here, people. The contaminated peppers were TEN CENTS CHEAPER!!!!

And that's what free trade is all about.

American Tomato Growers should be PISSED. The US Gov’t and Mexicans just cost them something like $200 million in wasted product.

They were only providing the salmonella that Americans won’t provide themselves.

God knows, we've never had a contamination incident in the U.S. We are pure, and clean.

oops . . . spinach, anyone?

The spinach thing was ok, since we use very cheap illegals to handle it. We still save our ten cents.

Gee, what a surprise.

The US tomato growers should sue the socks off the feds for the political correctness that cost them hundreds of millions of dollars. How many people did this nonsense put out of business? How many did it cost their life savings? All they had to do was announce it came from Mexico and that would have alerted us to what to watch for.

I will no longer eat food from China or Mexico.

American salmonella is too expensive to cultivate.

Meanwhile, we have U.S. tomato farmers that were totally destroyed due to the initial warnings/bans that were issued in error. It is a crying shame.

There's a serious lesson here for US Agriculture: It is to your profound benefit to make sure all produce is labeled as to origin.

I have no idea how may tens of million$ were lost during this debacle, but it can all be hung at the altar of "political correctness". The regulatory authorities can't be seen as favoring the competent and punishing the clueless...

... so they ban ALL SIMILAR PRODUCTS.

Makes no sense?
So?
