The policeman makes me so happy.
My brother-in-law is a cyclist, if
only it had been he.

Wow, no excuse for that...the cyclist made an obvious move to avoid the cop.
Cop’s in big doo doo.

And then, in about 6 months, he’ll be due in civil court when he sues the ass off the NYPD and the POS cop.

I can't stand Critical Mass.
It amazes me that an angry cabbie hasn't taken out a dozen of them yet.

I don’t understand the assault. The video says otherwise.

There are always going to be rogue cops, in every jurisdiction. The issue is not whether NYPD has rogue cops, but what the department and the city do about it when one turns up.

That was a nice hit by the cop.. ..One has to wonder exactly why he singled out that particular biker, speculation has it that the biker did something further up the street and the call was made to stop the biker over the radio.

The cop is a big time SS officer who needs to be in jail for assault. Another lie by the police as they do on a daily basis in this new era. Use to be that you could believe anything they said now I believe nothing they say.

These Critical Mass bikers don’t look like hard core cyclists. Some of them were riding bikes you’d expect to see a 9 year old girl riding around the block. Maybe in New York that’s what most cyclists look like, but it’s not what I’m used to.

Who has the right of way? The pedestrian or the bicyclist?
I'm sorry but I've been to many places in the world and if you don't have rules of the road and enforcement someone's going to get hurt.

Watch the video carefully - after the guy is body slammed and the cops are dealing with him, some other cyclist grabs his bike and rides off with it.
He's having a bad day.

Videos have been known to lie, and I guess the things the bike jester were saying like “out of my way, pig” didn’t make it to the tape...

While I don’t condone the Officer’s behavior, I can understand his frustration. Critical Mass are a bunch of rogue Cyclists (liberal social and political protestors) who basically, en mass (sometimes hundreds, even thousands), gather together on their bikes, taking over the Streets of Manhattan whenever they feel like it effectively shutting down traffic and movement for blocks. They give no notice to the City, the Police or the Public.
I don’t usualy refer to wikipedia but for what it’s worth:

$250,000 at least. Easy money from the City of New York...Why can’t I get beat up by a cop for no reason and have someone tape it and put it on Youtube? Luck doesn’t know my address.

FOX NEWS:
NYPD Officer Stripped of Badge After YouTube Video Shows Cyclist Shove
NEW YORK A police officer shown on video body-checking a bicyclist who was riding as part of a demonstration was stripped of his badge and gun Monday.
The incident occurred Friday evening in Times Square at the Critical Mass ride, a monthly protest of urban reliance on motor vehicles.
The video clip, posted anonymously on the Internet on Sunday, shows the officer standing in the street as bikes whiz past. The officer moves toward the cyclist, identified in a criminal complaint as Christopher Long, and violently knocks him to the ground in front of crowds of people. Another officer comes over, and the two officers wrestle with Long before handcuffing him.
Craig Radhuber said he was riding about 3 feet behind Long when he was hit.
"It was unprovoked," Radhuber said. "It was like the cop was waiting for him and then just checked him as he got closer. I couldn't believe it."

The Rider was most probably a "corker" whose job it was to halt traffic at a red light so the mass could travel through it once the mass had passed the cop attempted to stop him for what he breaking the traffic laws by shutting down the flow of traffic.
The cop was well within the law to attempt to arrest him for what he had done.

There is more to this than what is seen in the video. Both police officers are in the street seemingly disinterested looking to their left until this bicyclist comes into view. It is clear both officers have an interest in this particular bicyclist and both officers move toward the cyclist before the one officer slams the guy.
What not seen in the video did this cyclist do that caused the TWO police officers to stop looking to the left and center their attention on this guy to the right?
