'The woman was worried the razors could fall into the hands of gang members and spoke to PC James Bland and PCSO Nigel Bond to arrange their collection.'
WTH? The same Nanny stuff happens here during gun turn in at some citys. Old, artifact guns get turned in that are worth lots of money.

The difference is that here those classic guns are melted down anyway.
Makes all the sense of burning down the house a criminal was arrested in.

Well, she’s 90. England is so crime ridden in areas they could fall into the wrong hands. And at least they went to a museum.
We had a story here in FL a while ago where someone turned in some valuable antique firearms, and they were going to melt them down. I think they were saved at the last minute.

At least the Guards Museum will handle them properly.
The cravenness of the law is pathetic.

"...a set of valuable ancient cut throat razors..." Is this a commonly-used description in the U.K. (akin to "straight razor"), or is the press indulging in needless fear-mongering?

"Both officers researched the items and they discovered that they belonged to the womans deceased husband who was a Regimental barber for the Irish Guards between 1925-1953 at a local army barracks in Caterham." Apparently, what were once common, barber tools are now 'dangerous weapons'.
Slight cultural shift noted.

A collection like this could bring in many dirhams if sold to one of the local madrassas. This could be a bloody good way of raising money for the Guardian.

Clearly, the English should simply hand in to government authorities their t*sticles and be done with it. FUBAR - the nation is utterly FUBAR.

I notice that there was no mention of compensation to the widow for the donation of these valuable cultural artifacts.
