All the homeless I have seen out here in South California are white—most look like burned out Hippies. No minority homeless. Maybe they have too much pride to beg on the street.
In New York, the homeless were largely middle aged to elderly black men with drug and mental illness problems, largely due to the fact that women and children got priority in the shelters. Over the past five years, however, I’ve seen an increase in white “slacker” types on the streets.
