Rasmussen: Obama 47, McCain 46
rasmussen ^ | 7/29/08

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that Barack Obama’s Berlin bounce is gone. Obama now attracts 44% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 46%. Compared to a week ago, Obama has gained a single percentage point (see recent daily results).

However, the week’s polling showed a roller-coaster of opinion surrounding Obama’s big speech. The event in Berlin was well-covered and initial reviews on the speech were positive. Polling on Thursday and Friday nights was very strong for the Democrat, leading to a six-point advantage in our Saturday morning release. However, polling for the past three days shows no trace of a bounce. The data looks very similar to results from the period preceding the speech and, with fourteen weeks to go, the race for the White House is a toss-up. Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

Dead cats do not bounce very high, or very many times.

More and more people, despite the best and abjectly and disgustingly partisan efforts of the MSM to the contrary, are researching for themselves who Obama is and what he represents and coming to the inescapable conclusion...he does not represent what is good or best for them or this country.

polls are useless.

They give you a good idea, but what they claim is a margin of error is just incorrect. In a perfect world, their MOE would be accurate, but with the flaws in sampling to quote a MOE like they do is a joke. The fact the pollsters all have to manipulate their data to try to match some assumed population admits to serious flaw.

Why do we even bother with polls? The polls have been proven to be pretty much worthless in the last couple of elections, particularly in the primary.

I think we get ourselves too worked up. We complain about politicians who sway position with every poll, yet we give these polls space and time...

And every one gets posted here on FR - often times several in a day - that all tend to conflict with each other.

I just don’t get the obsession with polls.

I think the electoral college is going to play a very big part in this election. These geographically generic polls are going to show it closer than it ends up IMO..

If you ask me, Obama is rallying the conservative base (better than McCain ever will). That’s why you are seeing movement in the polls towards McCain.

Good news for Juan McC. inasmuch as there is always lurking the phenomenon known as “The Bradley Effect.” Tell the pollster whatever you think he wants to hear and vote the opposite.

"I think the electoral college is going to play a very big part in this election"

The EC doesn't play a big part in this election it plays the only part, as it does in every presidential election.

You mean after the month-long media orgy the MSM has been having for Obama that he has a mere 1 pt. lead over McCain?

The MSM have lost all credibility and have become cheerleaders for Obama, yet he’s in a virtual tie with McCain.

Wait until this amateur gets his clock cleaned in the debates.

I wonder how the MSM will spin that?

The more is known about a Democrat, the weaker their supports gets. The Democrats who always polls the highest is the unnamed one.
