An Al Jazeera spokesman says the network was not trying to kidnap Allen West.
Retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West thought he’d left behind the specters of Iraq when he decided to run for Congress in Florida. But a recent interview request lead him to suspect he was a target for kidnapping.
West’s combat instincts flared a few days ago when his campaign office got a call from a young woman who identified herself as a booker for the Al Jazeera network’s English-language channel.
“She told my staff that she wanted to talk about the perceived uptick in violence in Afghanistan,” West tells us. “I found that strange, since I haven’t been in Afghanistan in eight months. There are a lot of other people better qualified to speak to that subject.
“But my b.s. flag really went up when they said they wanted my address, to pick me up at night. They said they would send a car but wouldn’t tell me where it was going.
“I don’t know if it was a kidnapping attempt,” says West, who is challenging first-term Democratic Rep. Ron Klein in the Sunshine State. “But I am not going to entrust Al Jazeera with my life. I said, ‘Cancel the interview!’”
West believes he has every reason to be wary. In 2003, while he was serving in the Sunni Triangle, his unit was targeted for an ambush. West’s controversial questioning of a suspect (he fired his pistol next to the suspect’s head) helped foil the assassination plot.

I'm just dying to know how Olberdouche has come to the conclusion that West is "the worst person in the world." Worse than the two Islamic terrorists that killed 50+ people today. Worse than a pedophile. Worse than a drug dealer, a bank robber, or a gang banging murderer.

I thought that prick Olbermann’s “WAHHH! Worst Person in the World” was a constant 99-way tie between Bush, Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter, Gen. Petraeus, McCain, Romney, Charlton Heston, Clarence Thomas, the 87 highest-paid oil company executives, and the three straight people in San Francisco.
When the black candidate/public figure is a conservative all manner of calumny is considered acceptable discourse.
Olbermann will need a tag team of proctologists working around the clock for a month to remove his tongue from Obama’s ass. God, what a despicable asshole.
I love West and despise Olbermann but the Postelnik kidnapping story was rather ludicrous—even Allen said he was joking and I’m afraid that story was not helpful.
GPO to sanction Al-Jazeera over Kuntar party
For the second time this year, Israel has decided to act against Al-Jazeera, after the influential TV station held a party for released Lebanese child-killer Samir Kuntar, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
The party, held in Beirut, was organized by the Al-Jazeera bureau there to honor Kuntar on the occasion of his release from Israeli prison. He was hailed as a hero who carried out a brave military operation against the Jewish state.
The Government Press Office said it would impose sanctions on Al-Jazeera and demand an explanation from the station.
Al-Jazeera's bureau chief in Beirut, Ghassan bin Jeddo, has long been known for his close ties to Hizbullah.
Kuntar, for his part, thanked Jeddo and Al-Jazeera for supporting him and other prisoners in Israeli jails and for waging a campaign to bring about their release.
