Adkisson’s ex-wife, Liza Alexander of Powell, was a former long-time member of the church, congregant Barbara Kemper said Monday.

his former wife obtained an order of protection in March 2000 while the two were still married and living in the Knoxville suburb of Powell.

******

The man accused of a mass church shooting this morning was described by his Powell neighbors as a helpful and kind man, but one who had issues with Christianity.

[…]”He had his own sense of belief about religion, that’s the impression I got of him,” said neighbor Karen Massey. “We were talking one day when my daughter graduated from Bible college, and I told him I was a Christian, then he almost turned angry.

“He seemed to get angry at that.”

According to Massey, Adkisson talked frequently about his parents who “made him go to church all his life … he was forced to do that.”

“He said that everything in the Bible contradicts itself if you read it.”

My condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and maimed; my keen sympathies to all who were there. This is an awful thing - to murder, to invade for the express purpose of terrorism.

And yes, I find it singularly interesting how the press has reported "the news" about what they found at the kook gunman's home.

What also interests me? Unitarians have always been liberal. There's nothing new with that. But what's a peace-loving Unitarian doing packing heat to a church for a children's performance?

Unitarians do not support 2nd amendment rights, as a rule.

I'm very glad some were armed and could stop the shooter, nonetheless.

Just yesterday spoke with a veteran of the 101st, Normandy Invasion; he's on the picture wall at the Airborne museum.

Assuredly there are simply kooks out there; but this kook sounds more like a leftwing kook; doesn't sound like standard 101st, nor conservative.

"Inside the house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly. (sorry for the extra pings but SAVAGE is in the news a lot, lately!)

What else did they find? There are inconsistencies here.

I would be willing to compare this guy’s books on hand with what’s on Barack Obama’s bookshelves.

Whew! That was close. Good thing they didn't mention P.J. O'Rourke, Ann Coulter, Ayn Rand, Ray Bradbury, Kinky Friedman, my King James version of the Bible or my pocket US Constitution ... they'd be coming for me! ;o)

The O’Reilly Factor sold over a million copies and spent 14 weeks at the top of the New York Times best seller list.

So, he used to be married to a rabid leftie?! Well, I can see how living with a raving liberal would cause a mental breakdown but that doesn’t give him the right to gun down people.

Exactly right. We would never hear about it, in fact.

Faced with the prospect of reading Sean Hannity’s book, I might have turned the gun on myself.

LOL!

I believe this is pingworthy, if only for a good chuckle.

Shooter is a sick bastard.
While liberalism is a danger ot our Country and citizens this is not the means of defeating it.
On another point why do they keep calling it a church shooting?
After reading a Universalist Unitarian website it sounds more like a social liberal club then a religion or something that should be classified as a church....

This shooting did occur at a Unitarian Universalist place of so-called worship, didn't it?
