establish the principle that humans do not have unique moral worth. That would break the spine of Judeo/Christian moral philosophy

atheism + naturalism/materialism + belief in evolution = anti-man mentality + subjectivism & relativistic ethics. Once you have that, then any action, no matter how bad can be justified on utilitarian grounds that it is good for society as a whole.
