Post about the petition on The Hill Blog:

http://blog.thehill.com/2008/06/18/congressmen-should-sign-petition-to-increase-oil-supply-rep-lynn-westmoreland/

“Hundreds of thousands of Americans have signed petitions calling on Congress to increase U.S. oil supply to bring down prices. When constituents started calling me to say they had signed, I wanted a way for all Americans to know where their member of Congress stands on this issue. I created a ‘no-wiggle-room pledge’ that reads ‘I will vote to increase to U.S. oil production to lower gas prices for Americans.’ It’s simple and it gets to the heart of the real solution. Yes, we need to conserve; yes, we need to develop alternative energy sources. But right now, we still need traditional energy and I want to put members of the House on record: Are you for helping American businesses and American families with their energy costs or not?

“More than 65 percent of Americans support more traditional energy exploration in this country. I’m saying: Explore offshore, open up U.S. lands and build more refineries. I encourage people all over this country will call their member of the House and encourage them to sign the Westmoreland petition to increase oil production. The petition is on the floor of the House during votes. Every congressional district is listed and we update our web site, www.house.gov/westmoreland regularly with everyone who has signed it.”

i would start putting the names of those who would not sign it before the public. Unfortunately many of those who did sign it will not be back come November. Case in point, Heather Wilson, Republican from New Mexico, was defeated in the primary.

I only counted 6 RemocRATs in the Yes column.
Does this say anything for partisanism?

I never get my hopes up during an election year. They say what we want them to say so they can get our vote.

Well, I see that the Republicans of California and Louisiana are in favor, but the Republicans of New Jersey are not. I guess they remember how miserable the beaches got during and after World War II with all the spilled ship oil. I can still remember the burn of turpentine, when my mom tried to get the tar off my little feet.

They used to call Nick Lampson a Blue Dog from Texas but he said “NO”. He has Delay’s old seat. Needs to be ousted.

Comment:

How does that impact todays crisis except that 148 years ago some owned slaves so all of America must now pay reparations.

Times have changed in the oil business.

New Jersey legislators need to pull their heads out and get with the rest of America.

Heath Schuler, former NFL first rounder and Washington Redskins quarterback, again misses the mark. Flustered and frazzled, he misses the open man and throws wildly - against oil production.

Way to go Heath!

BRAVO, Rep. Westmoreland!

As has been said already, THIS NEEDS THE SUPPORT OF ALL OF THOSE PRO-AMERICAN DEMOCRATS STILL IN CONGRESS!

Pelosi is a walking gaffe! On one hand she cries, "President Bush, FREE OUR OIL!" because she believes that draining our Strategic Oil Reserve is the answer to this problem. This oil came from others drilling for it. This oil, if it would solve the problem, would solve it BY CREATING MORE SUPPLY! But what does she say about drilling for our oil? "We can't drill our way out of this problem!" Really? If she believes that her proposed "Free Our Oil" solution will work, DRILLING OUR LAND will be an even BETTER solution!

In REALITY, Ms. Pelosi, your "Free Our Oil" WILL NOT fix the problem. The only way to fix this problem is to:

DRILL HERE!
DRILL NOW!
