(NECN/ABC) - A second person has died as a result of the church shooting in Tennessee, 61-year-old Linda Kraeger, who passed away several hours later in a hospital.
At the time of the shooting, church members were watching a children's production of "Annie."
Eyewitnesses say one of those killed -- 60-year-old Greg McKendry -- jumped in front of the gunman's bullet to protect other parishioners.
Churchgoers quickly tackled the gunman and held him until police arrived.
There were about 200 people in the church at the time of the shooting.
The shooter, Jim D. Adkisson, is being charged with first degree murder and is held on $1 million bond.
The church is about a half mile from my house. I drove by earlier this evening and saw 3-5 satellite trucks and a flurry of activity still going on.
Thanks so much for the close up view. Our prayers are with your community, this is very sad.

Wow! This man has my respect. I hope there is some sort recognition (medal perhaps?) he can receive postumously -- maybe from the Governor or something like that.
Prayers .

Terribly sad event and my prayers for the community. Thank God for people who took action and prevented more harm.

He is a true hero. Apparently, he was at the church with his foster children, and protected them. His family can be very proud of him.
This lady also, must be sadly missed. An elderly lady killed while praying in church ... hard to believe.
Sorry this has hit so close to home for you.
I am a few miles up I-75, in Campbell County, and will be watching the 11 p.m. local news for any updates.
Just across the river in Oak Ridge here. We’ve had WBIR on pretty much since we heard about it.
Pray for their souls. The Unitarian church is lost. Their idea of a sermon this day was the children doing a portion of the play, “Annie”. What that has to do with our Lord and Savior, I have no idea.
Sad day, indeed. It is events like this that convince me that demonic possession is still with us despite our modernity and sophistication.

When you pray for someone, always pray for their body and spirit, their soul. Pray with humility. Pray with sincerity. Pray without judgment. Pray for their loss. Pray that the God of all comfort will give them good friends and family to lean on during this time.
I have never understood the Unitarian church's beliefs. But, your comment about the church should be saved for another thread, in my humble opinion.

Any news on why he shot those people for?
Knoxville News online has a quote from a witness saying “who could believe this would happen in Knoxville?” After that atrocity against those 2 kids in Jan. 2007 nothing would surprise me. I’d be afraid to even visit Knoxville now.
No, I haven’t found anything.
Anyone ever mention to you that you might want to tone down the hyperbole? Just wondering...
