I have been in sackloth and ashes ever since the end of the Republican primary season dwelling on the mess we find ourselves in. Conservatives have watched the Republican nomination process get hijacked from them while they were debating whether our candidate should be socially conservative (Huckabee) vs economically conservative (Romney). Now we have McCain, who has historically proven to be mediocre at best on both sets of issues. His only strength was his view on the Iraq war.
Now that we appear to have turned the corner in Iraq, the whole withdrawal argument may be moot. If things continue this way, McCain will be reducing troop levels and bringing the home if elected president. So what is his candidacy about? If the Iraq war is basically won before the election, what is it that will define his candidacy?
Here's another question - who is McCain's base? Who will work the phones? Who will go door to door during the 72 hour GOTV? Who will organize and fund the 527 groups that can take shots at Obama that he can't (or won't) take himself, ala the Swiftboat Vets? More simply asked - who is passionate about McCain's candidacy?
The answer, to me is, nobody. Sure, a lot of us conservatives and disaffected union democrats will vote for McCain as the lesser of 2 evils, but who will "turn out" the voters? Who will sacrifice time from work and money from their budgets to see that he gets elected?
If I am right, I think that President Barack Hussein Obama will be in office come January, killing our way of life with an overwhelming Democrat Congress. Does anyone have a better answer?
I feel as you do (I don’t want to get into a position defending McCain - he’s not a good candidate.) but I feel so strongly that Barack Obama would be devastating to our country, especially with Dem majorities in the House and Senate (what would stop him?) that I will do whatever I can to stop Obama from being POTUS.
I didn’t want to vote McCain at first either. Principles and all, you know, but the more I learned and learn about Barack Hussein Obama, the more I am determined to back the only GOP nominee we have at this point (at least we know he was willing to give his life for his country).
Ok, I guess I’m just easily misled by false propaganda. Whatever would dolts like me do without clever folks like you?

Here is the game that I see from the liberals (YES, liberals!) that seem to have taking control at the helm of the GOP.
During the primaries, anyone who actually supports the platform and is not willing to lean far to the left is starved of cash and support, slimed as a "purist" or "bigot" or "idealogue" or "isolationist" or.... the end-all-end-all "UNELECTABLE". You must not support that person. You must instead look to the moderate candidate as they are the only one that can "win." It is "the best you can do."
In the general election, you are told you must support the moderate and that any discontent about the LIBERAL policies of said candidate should have been addressed during the primaries. Hold your nose and support the moderate as they are better than the alternative. (You've been HAD!)
After the election, you are told that you must support your newly elected official because "the people have spoken" and besides, if you wanted a conservative then you should have worked harder to elect them. Any opposition to the LIBERAL policies pushed by this so-called New-Rebublican must not be opposed or else you will look weak in the eyes of those evil Democrats. So, just shut your yap and accept it.
So, what do you do.... work hard to get a candidate for the next election. When you do, you are told they are "unelectable".... History shows you need someone more moderate...
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
You want fear mongering? If Obama wins we won’t have a constitution by the end of his term. Before 2020. Beat that. Oh BTW tell me how McCain nominating Karen Williams for SCOTUS will shred the Consitution. I’d like to hear that myself.

Kudlow never said that McCain said he wasn’t going to suggest cap and trade, should he get elected.
Kudlow is an optimistic guy and I like listening to him, amidst all the doom and gloom of the economy. He’s probably feeling the same angst we are all feeling - at the prospect of an Obama presidency.
People who think that Republicans should learn a lesson for making bad choices need to realize that whoever is going to be the next POTUS will probably be nominating a couple Supreme Court justices and dealing with an Iran wanting desperately to go nuclear and wipe Israel off the map (and the U.S., too).
I think we can be pretty confident that Barack Obama is NOT a friend of Israel.
He has stated in his biography that he will stand by the Muslims if push came to shove.
John McCain is a friend of Israel.
God has said in His Word: “I will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel.”
I want to live in a country that stands by Israel, the apple of God’s eye.
No kidding. Why don’t you take a look at the other things on the website you’d rather not like his right-to-life position, private accounts, oil drilling, strict constructionism, and many other topics.
Anyway I said he hadn’t mentioned it in weeks, not that he removed it from the site.
You are absolutely correct.
If we (the conservative party) are marketing agency — we would get fired.
We are not doing a good enough job of getting our message out in to the MSM — that has to change, we have to do a better job of putting a face on Conservatism.
We can’t rely on Rush and Sean and Levin and Chris Plante and the others that help keep us informed forever. We have to do it and we can’t sound like whack jobs doing it either.
We need to be “growing” our candidates now and racking them one right after the other.
Thank God Bush is still in the White House, he is not a lame duck President, he is actually having almost as much impact on our country today as he did September 12th on.
He (single handedly) forced the country’s discussion on drilling for oil — simply with the stroke of a pen.

McCain’s base is those who can see the tragedy-in-waiting named Obama..

How does a person ever get to that position? There is a stark difference to those who get off their pet three or four hot button issues. Yes, McCain has his points of disagreement but so does Bush, Bush, Dole, Reagan, Ford, Nixon and all the others.
This is a choice between a Republican conservative-leaning version of America or a Democratic solid-liberal version of America. There. I freely admit that it isn’t solid conservative. But what do you expect after eight years of a GOP President who is now in the tank? You tell me? Where do you pick up the pieces?
Can I be honest?
It's quite simply the same back stabbing Republican party groupies, the insiders, those that could give a sheat about conservatism.
It's the big gov crowd, the profits regardless of consequences crowd, that could absolutely care less about smaller government, sovereign borders or American conservative principles.
It's the exact same crowd that attempted to convince everyone that Bush was on the conservatives side.
It's all a big fat lie.

Where do you dream up such a notion? Like any large group of supporters it is going to be diverse. But if there is any near common thread it will be that it is predominantly right-leaning.
