For Hagel, it's country above political party

Hagel is under friendly fire now. Only it isnt so friendly. Its time for a reality check, says former Republican State Chairman Chuck Sigerson, now a member of the Omaha City Council. Are you a Republican or not? If youre a Republican, you should be endorsing McCain. Chuck personally may not like the war, but to go out there and court the presumptive Democratic nominee is beyond the pale. Rank and file Republicans are very dismayed by the actions of the senator, Sigerson says. Its time to rally around the Republican nominee. If you dont feel that way, reassess your Republican credentials.
Thats the flash point.
Hagel has decided not to endorse presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain, a strong supporter of the war in Iraq.
And he has just returned from a congressional trip to Iraq and Afghanistan with Barack Obama.
This follows Republican disaffection with Hagel over his opposition to Iraq war policy, his criticism of President Bush and his moderate position on immigration reform. All that prompted Attorney General Jon Bruning to decide to challenge Hagel in the Republican primary if he had chosen to seek a third term this year.

Seems as thought this paper has it almost 180 degrees out. It is Hagel that is putting his personal welfare ahead of the Country's.

The only reason that many people outside of Nebraska know anything about this jerk is because he is acting like McCain did... as a “Republican” who sides with Democrats.

From the article;
It would be difficult to find anyone more Republican or conservative on every issue except Iraq."
Co-sponsoring Obama's Global Poverty Act (S. 2433) is far from conservative......but considering the current state of the GOP, it prolly is Republican.

Hagel has just returned from a congressional trip to Iraq and Afghanistan with Barack Obama, and yet he says ...
"... I do not intend to be involved in the presidential campaign, ... Hagel ... "
Obviously Hagle went there on a farce finding mission, which just happened to be coincidently timed with Obama-lama-ding-dongs one world tour campaign.
The only good thing about this guy is that he's retiring.

Hagel will slink off to the Beltway and never see Nebraska again when his term finishes.

I think he has a place in the Obama cabinet.

Never has been a conservative, and never has put America first.

Nebraska would have been better off electing Johnny Carson to replace Hagel, at least Carson would have had some jokes to keep ‘em laughing, and after he checked out, he wouldn’t cause any problems for America OR Nebraska.

Shall we see how right Chuck Hagel has been about Iraq to this point? *ahem*
"It's Alice in Wonderland," Sen. Chuck Hagel, second-ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, told me in describing the proposal [for a troupe surge]. "I'm absolutely opposed to sending any more troops to Iraq. It is folly."
That was interesting, wasn't it? Alice in Wonderland, eh?
Now let's watch Chuck backpeddle and attempt to cover his own ass.
"Quit talking about the troop surge. Get out of that. We're done with that. How are we going to project forward?" the Nebraska senator said. "What are we going to do for the next four years to protect the interest of America and our allies and restructure a new order in the world. ... That's what America needs to hear from these two candidates. And that's where I am."
Hagel, too, opposed the troop increase strategy, though he acknowledged Thursday it brought about positive changes. "When you flood the zone with superior American military firepower, and you put 30,000 of the world's best troops in a country, there's going to be a result there," Hagel said.
Yes, I would imagine Hagel would want to project forward, naturally, since projecting backwards reveals the massive shadow cast by his incompetence. Oh, but now he supports the troops and acknowleges "the world's best troopes!!!!!" Why, yes, there's going to be results with those guys.
Har Har Har!!

I think I used 3 different spellings above. :P

For Hagel, it's country above political partyDo you think we'll see the same praise from the drives-bys for Zell Miller or Joe Liberman? These people have their noses so far up the dems anus's, for all practical purposes they are an appendage of the dems.
