I've suspected for some time that foreign ‘philanthropists’ have hijacked our environmental groups. I believe the enviro-wackos are just pawns of OPEC, and most of them are too caught up crying over polar bears playing in the ice to think.

I recently read that US oil rigs are now so safe that nature ‘her’self leaks more oil— that our rigs cut back natural seepage. On the other side of the coin, the Mexican spill you mentioned:

“Estimated at 140 million gallons over 9 months, it drawfed the Exxon Valdez (1989, 11 M gal) by several orders of magnitude..... but is rarely, if ever mentioned by the Greenies. I don't know why - you would think this would be a poster child for banning offshore drilling. We (US) have a better record in offshore platforms.”

That helps confirm my suspicion— I believe environmental groups are sold out to foreign contributers [at the high level]. Most environmentalists are just being used.

I think that one fellow beginning to realize what's going on is Robert Redford. He once told off Bill Clinton [in an op-ed] for allowing oil drilling in Escalante [I think it was Escalante— been a while], the same place where Bill Clinton prevented the gathering of hard coal [which burns cleanly— even with low tech burning]. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but for all of his faults, Redford may one day find out the truth about a few things.
