The five wealthiest men in Panama are either Sephardic Jewish or Arab Christian. Look around Latin America, and you will see that wealth is concentrated disproportionately among immigrants of European, Middle Eastern, and Asian ancestry that have arrived over the past 100 years or so.
Some groups just simply lag more than others for many reasons and have for centuries..in some cases as in alcoholism with Amerindians it’s a deep cause which is more than just cultural...geographic isolation is about the only definable culprit I can pinpoint and the cultural and “evolutionary” consequences that generates.

My politically incorrect comment: I have little sympathy for folks who complain about being "violently driven from their neighborhoods" when the parents and grandparents drove away previous folks of the pale persuasion, often through violence, 40 years ago.
