IMO, the NRA should steer clear of issues connecting a right to own firearms with any identifiable class of citizen. The right is for all citizens, regardless of status (excepting convicted criminals and mentally unstable). Getting mixed up with racial, ethnic, or status class arguments only dilutes the argument. Besides, there’s most likely an ulterior motive here.
As the anti-rights elitists expand the classes that have their rights restricted it doesn’t take long until everyone but them falls into a suspect class.
New Yorks infamous Sullivan Law is a classic example. It was passed to keep Jews, Southern European immigrants and the Blacks flooding up from the South from having guns. Today it keeps everyone except the very rich and very politically powerful form having guns. Had it been stopped when it just affected the unpopular groups, it wouldn’t affect everyone today.
D.C.’s law wasn’t enforced against the powerful. Carl Rowan was never prosecuted for shooting two white boys for swimming in his swimming pool. Ted Kennedy’s employee wasn’t prosecuted for having a full-auto weapon in his car.
The law never applies to the ruling political class. But they take your rights by first taking some unpopular groups rights and expanding the taking until nobody has a right except them.
what that gun control is elitist and raciest?
that is one of the main reasons I am against gun control
Basically, the article is telling a significant voting bloc to quit voting for the same politicians who would force them into the boxcars.
