I wouldn’t get too excited about this.

He’s referring to metaphorical walls. And certainly the political walls in Northern Ireland have indeed fallen.

That said, I do not want a smooth talking Marxist as President.

Not according to his speech. He mentioned NOTHING about any "metaphorical" anything. No words in his sentence alludes to anything he's saying as being metaphorical.
