I find that usually the single most instructive thing about them is their very first post on Free Republic. It often shows what motivated them, what prompted them to sign up for the forum and what was burning on their minds when they joined.
A little less than a 1/2 year ago, a new Freeper, MartinStyles, signed up and signed in. It was on a McCain thread to be exact. This was way in the early GOP primaries, with good solid bedrock, non-establishment G.O.P. Conservatives still running against LIBERAL/RINO John McCain.
And just who did Freeper MartinStyles chime in for back there in the snows of February?
Why, none other than JOHN SIDNEY MCCAIN.
You are welcome to archive FR back to the late 1990s...1999 to be exact, to AmericanInTokyo's very first FR post.
I can tell you right now, because I recall it very clearly. No doubt it was to tear a "second one" for that no good, lying, liberal sack of guano President Clinton at the time. And at least 10,000 or more consistent Conservative-Firster postings since then.
Now, you tell ME? Which one of us here on this FR forum is a CONSERVATIVE?
You don't have to respond. Just leave that to the crickets, please.
Good. Better than good. Excellent.
Mission Accomplished.
I’m glad your in Tokyo.
love and kisses
You are correct.
Livestrong? As in Lance Armstrong?
Okay, you have a presidential candidate and cancer survivor, speaking as the keynote speaker at a conference discussing how to survive and beat cancer, sponsored by a retired athlete who survived testicle and brain cancer to put together an unprecedented run at the top of his sport. Given that, no, it’s not odd that he mentioned his melanoma. It would have been odd if he hadn’t. What better place TO do it? It would have been like his being the keynoter at the American Legion or VFW convention and not mentioning Vietnam.
This was a forum on cancer. Treatment, survival, etc.
It’s a group founded by Lance Armstrong dedicated to a cure for cancer.
Of course, McCain would speak about cancer to an audience of mostly cancer survivors.
Not sure why WSJ chose to carp.
There is a group here on FR, including the thread initiator who have a sort of paranoia based on an intense hatred of John McCain. I personally believe they are trolls despite how long they have been registered here. It seems it is these folks who always point to another’s length of time on this forum as a yardstick of their credibility.
In any case, warts and all John McCain is light years better then Hussein at this particular time in our nations place in the time line. The very idea they put forth that McCain will destroy what is left of the Party assumes there will be anything at all left if Hussein gets elected. Better to have a president that is 50% of what we want in a perfect world then one who is 0% or less.
Regarding calling freepers that don't like McCain trolls, I'll give you the benefit of doubt, since you are so new to Free Republic, and really don't know us very well.
I will vote for “ACE” because. the alternative is just to scary.
I don't need the benefit of anyhting, thanks anyway. Equating time on this or any forum with credibility is about as lame as it gets. The very idea that an individual is more likely to speak truth simply because he has been around longer is to raise incomprehensible to a Galactic level.
Seeing as McCain now has the support of over 85% of Republicans you have an uphill climb in peeling their votes away. In fact McCain has more support among Republicans then does Obama among Democrats according to the latest WSJ/NBC poll.
“McCain did nasty things to their grandmothers.”
McCain did nasty things to the Country, the Constitution, and Navy Veterans of Viet Nam. Does he get a pass? Are we going to hold him accountable for his actions and worse his intentions?
“McCain’s clock will be cleaned five times to Sunday by Barry Osama.
Only because of you and your likes. “
No because McCain is no Conservative and starts without the base, then as this article contributes runs the worse campaign in the history of the Country.
The IDIOT could not look at a friggen weather map and instead plans a trip to a Gulf rig. He is an idiot.
This the real problem with McCain. He is stupid.
It does not mean I support McCain by a long-shot or respect anything about him but his service to the country.
Telling yourself that Republicans are happy with McCain is sticking your head in the sand. There was more enthusiasm for Dole than McCain, at least there was something likable there. Just look at how they are not supporting him with their money.
The base might vote against Obama if McCain does not go too stupid, but the chances of that this year is like praying for snow in June. Let's all hope for a miracle.
Shame on you.
I will omit your screen name if you prefer but one way or another, I’m stealing your tag line.
Don't you know the "rules"? An old timer is anyone who has been here at least one day longer than you and a noob is anybody who has been here one day less. Furthermore, any noob, regardless of age, just started forming a political philosophy upon joining F.R. and his/her opinions are highly suspect to say the least and an old timer is to be respected for his valuable insight and wisdom, even if he is a 25 year old dork, still living in his parent's basement.
I have been here 5 years and 3 days, I'm a noob to many but my grand kids still love and respect me!
