Obama is scheduled to speak in Berlin at the Victory Column sometime between 1 and 1:30 Eastern.
All cable networks will cover the speech, live.
I think you missed the point of my post.

bttt :)
“The mass circulation tabloid Bild admires the Illinois senator’s optimism and beaming smile. The newspaper notes that Germans would like their own Obama.”
Naturally. They are prone to cults of personality.
I don’t see the French, English Obama supporters so far out.
GOOD GRIEF! The press credentials all display the "Change we can believe in" slogans.
Whats next? The press wearing "O" armbands?
Oh, heck yeah; we have tons of stuff on AFN now. There are movie channels, sports channels, talk shows, sitcoms, a kids network...we get the Germany AFN feed.
Things have improved greatly since I first arrived here mumble {garbled} years ago.
"We are the ones we are waiting for." (to do what?)
Per Fox News: “No bounce from foreign trip.”
The guy holding up that sign was kinda funny. At first I thought he was a conservative who didn’t like Obama, but apparently he isn’t. He just thinks that Obama won’t bring any of the “change” he’s promising.
Obama was 22 minutes late. Bad idea. Germans are always on time, and they hate it when others are not. Having to stand around there for another 22 minutes just because somebody thinks he doesn’t need to be punctual is annoying. At least where I was standing, people were not very thrilled by his speech, either. There were a lot of obvious left-wingers in the audience who clapped at the obvious places (“…a world without nuclear weapons…”), but most people didn’t clap at all. Like me, they just wanted to have a look, it seemed. When he said how much he loved America, nobody clapped. That is something his left-wing fans have absolutely no sympathy for ;-). The way he talked about the communists as if there was anything bad about communism did also not produce a lot of enthusiasm among them…
Overall, most people seemed disappointed.
Another interesting thing I noted was that all press people wore some big badge around their necks that was blue and said something like “Change we can believe in.” I don’t know if that is normal at such events but I thought that was very inappropriate. Reporters are there to report, not to be part of Obama’s campaign team.
That is the same guy. He has a scar/mark on the left nostril.
‘People of Berlin — people of the world — this is our moment. This is our time.’
Who is ‘our’? Is he running for king of the world, or US prez?
Maybe I'm German. ;)
I think some folks run late as if to say "my time is more valuable than yours" or "I have power over you."
No.
I think his plan was the Kennedy emulation. I don’t think they were expecting the Brandenburg Gate appearance to be shot down. He had already committed to an appearance there (Germany) and had to follow through. Also, his speechifying fell flat because he couldn’t do his normal MLK/preacher ripoff.
WOW- thank you very much for the eyewitness report. FREEPERS are the best!
Exactly :)
Begging your always grounded and thoughtful comments on the long thread.

See post #589 for a freeper report from the scene.
Were you there? What are you sensing about the reaction of Germans towards Obama?
I wasn't there but when I got home I turned on the TV and saw the channel people apologizing for saying Obama was a Muslim earlier. I'm not sure what that was about but I thought it was funny.
And then they pointed out “he has Muslim roots actually”.
Obama probably wouldn't like to hear that either. lol
