Top Astronaut: 'Aliens Do Exist'
11:37am UK, Thursday July 24, 2008 Aliens do exist and have even contacted humans on Earth, according to top astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell who was the sixth man on the Moon. l-alien
Dr Edgar Mitchell says aliens are just like little men
The truth has been hidden by governments for more than 60 years, the Moon walker says.
And he claims he is lifting the lid on a conspiracy to keep aliens a secret.
Dr Mitchell, who was on Apollo 14 in 1971, has told how he was aware of many UFO visits to Earth during his career with Nasa but each one was covered up.
The 77-year-old claims the space agency made contact with aliens, describing the beings as "little people who look strange to us".

The mathematical probability equations you cite are based on pure speculation, and are even dumber than the global climate models. A scientific wild @ss guess is STILL a WAG!
We have absolutely NO IDEA how many life-supporting planets there are in our galaxy, nor do we have any concept of how life begins and grows. Until we can get those concepts understood, we can't begin to calculate probability of life elsewhere.

What do you mean?

I’m not convinced Missler has it totally figured out.
But I think he has a lot of things correct.

“Interesting a former astronaut said this. Honestly, who knows.” Are you trying to call Ed Mitchell a liar? He said plainly that he knows this as fact and you choose to negate that he said it is a fact he knows!

Once we get the wall built this problem will significantly diminish.

There is a nearly 1.0 correlation between folks that see aliens or at least believe in them and involvement in the occult.
Conversely, there are few cases (I dont know of any) of Christians reporting alien sightings.
Demonic origin perhaps? Just conjecture.
Let me start by saying I generally don't find myself disagreeing with your postings. I have to object here though, at least a little. While I don't discount the possibility that most or all encounters of the third, fourth, and above kinds may be demonic in origin, encounters of the first and perhaps even second kinds may not all be linked to the occult. Indeed, most encounters of the first kind can be easily explained as a planet or ordinary man-made satellite. But my own family had an encounter of the first kind during which they saw a flying silver disc with windows buzz their car. The family members that had this experience are devoutly christian, so that makes at least one encounter by a christian. They never reported it outside of the family though for fear of ridicule.

Finally the news is out, I thought I was the only one to know, but finally others are coming forward.
Dr. Mitchell is right, they are here, they do not look like a human man, they have different life demands and styles. At first I found it difficult to communicate with them, it's like they think completely different then human men.
In fact I've been living with one for 32 years........I call her wife...........

Actually, it DOES calculate statistically that there are no other intelligent/technological beings in our galaxy at least. The Drake equation, even being generous, shows that it would take at least 100 galaxies of the same type as ours to produce 1 technological life supporting planet.
Then, given that these tech life forms could be from other galaxies, you have the speed of light barrier to contend with. Not saying that it couldnt be overcome with sufficient tech, but just pointing out the hurdle to travel.
Excuse me for butting in and thanks for the 'Drake equation' reference.
anyway.. A while back on Comos the now departed Carl Sagan did that as an example. But there's a few problems with it today.
- The Drake Equation was developed back in 1961.
- The equation only pertains to the Milky Way Galaxy.
- Astronomy and cosmology has advanced exponentially since 1961. (1961 is like the Stone Age today.)
- Advances is theoretical physics since then is the same.
- Now we have the Big Bang, the String Theory (now obsolete), Membrane Theory (current), Black Holes, Worm Holes and... Alternate Universes.
- And in all this we have 'Space Time' which can be bent (is?) by Black Holes.
- And by Einstein we know Light is bent by gravity. Black Holes play havoc with it.
So traveling faster than the speed of light
(1) by bending Space Time, or using Worm Holes, or even going from one 'universe' to another is all theoretically possible. Add all the current science together and I don't see how we can be alone.
As Carl Sagan would say, 'There are BILLIONS and BILLIONS of Galaxy's. And more Stars in the Universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on the earth.'
that's about it, sorry for butting in.
(1) Super Gamma Ray Bursts recently caused a 'little' problem with E=mc2. They basically violated the whole darn equation. The solution Physicists came up with to make it work is still ahead scratcher for me.

Millions of life forms have lived on Earth but only one life form had sufficient evolutionary pressure to develop an advanced intelligence. That pressure was tribal warfare, which is really an unusually high-speed version of natural selection. There are probably many intelligent beings out there but the Universe is likely a rough neighborhood. They are hiding for their own survival. And us Earthlings are broadcasting Jerry Springer shows out to space.

each factor is based on requirements for technological life on earth.
Take away the “factor” and tech life simply doesn’t happen on earth.
Then, the probabilities of each can be “guessed” at, but they certainly aren’t greater than the generous figure given of 10%. So, yes, the 1/100th of a chance per spiral galaxy is a WAG, but it is a WAG on the GENEROUS side.
