Cute ~ one of those victories commemorated with that column was over Austria which was, as it turns out, actually a member of the German Confederation at the time ~ well inside the same Postal and Customs Union.
The Germans in Prussia actually betrayed one of their own for a minor political point.
I'd suggest that for that "victory" it was more about German pigheadedness and stupidity than imperialism!

That's fairly consistent with the prophecies in Jeremiah but most of them already happened. I don't think Daniel gives half of Jerusalem to anyone ~ doesn't he just have the whole place blowing up?!
What we do have here, particularly with that political sign that uses the Wailing Wall as a backdrop, is something pretty akin to an announcement of the arrival of the "Anti-Christ".

Photo ops must be properly arranged and carried out.

Are we sure it was a Yarmulke, or could it have been a Kufie (Islamic Prayer Cap)? Just wondering. ;)
Isn’t it rather strange for a non-Jew to wear a yarmulke? I’ve never heard of doing that before - not like when going into some catholic churches and having your shoulders covered, or in a mosque wearing a hijab. Was this the same kind of thing meant to show respect? Very odd, IMHO.

Sorry, should’ve gone further in the thread - didn’t see Obama’s picture. It’s definitely a yarmulke. Still wondering though - is this a common thing to do when visiting the wall?

I think that as a Christian I would be more moved being in that place. I still do not believe he is a believer in Christ.

Isnt it rather strange for a non-Jew to wear a yarmulke? Here is President Bush showing the same respect. Men wearing the yarmulke (and/or women wearing a head covering) is an accepted custom, even for a non-Jew in the U.S. who attends an Orthodox Jewish wedding or funeral, and sometimes even a Conservative or Reform rite. There are often bowls of them near the door of the synagogue or Jewish funeral home.
