I was watching some C-SPAN book events I had TIVOd and one of them was TREACHEROUS ALLIANCES by somebody Trita (sp)Parsi about the relationships between Iran, US & Israel.
Interesting take on things but he mentioned one thing I’ve never heard before about a 2003 entreaty from Iran to the US offering essentially everything we’ve ever asked for (transparency, not funding Hezzies, recognition of Israel, etc) shortly after we toppled Saddam. And, of course, the author said that he was told that it was somebody near or close to Cheney who killed the offer to negotiate because the US thought it could win by force like it did in Afghan and Iraq.
You ever heard about any kind of olive branch by the Iranians in 2003 to the US?
