In yesterday's Post, we criticized Barack Obama's plan to "give health insurance to 47 million Americans who are now without coverage." We raised the question: "Are they Americans?" - noting that the 47 million statistic includes those who've come here illegally and are subject to deportation.
The Obama campaign complains that the senator has no such plan. Indeed, he's said his plan "does not" cover illegals: "We've got limited resources. And it is important for us that, when we've got millions of US citizens that aren't yet covered, it's important for us to make sure that they are provided coverage."
Yet the Congressional Budget Office has confirmed that the 47 million figure includes illegal immigrants. Indeed, The Wall Street Journal criticized Obama's use of that figure, noting that his plan would fall short of it because it allegedly excludes illegal immigrants.
Obama can't have it both ways. He can't say he will cover 47 million Americans - as he has again and again in speeches and even in a national TV ad as recently as last month - and then turn around and deny that he'll cover the illegal immigrants who are included in that count.
The fact remains that the single most prominent aspect of Obama's domestic-policy proposals is his pledge to cover 47 million uninsured people who live in the United States. The fact that the fine print of one of his speeches may indicate that he's not being truthful and doesn't plan to cover the illegal immigrants among them is far from compelling.
The senator is either misrepresenting when he says he'll cover 47 million or when he denies that he'll cover illegal immigrants. We choose, given his liberal pedigree, to believe that his denial is inaccurate and his original statement, repeated again and again, is controlling.
all services to illegals should be cut, medical, education and so on. The only exception, whatever transportation, treatment or first aid is required to get a contagious or injured person back into Mexico.
Why would an immigrant want insurance? They already have free medical care at just about any hospital in the country.
“Co-pay? I don’t need no steeenking copay.”
To me, this entire discussion is like rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic. The debate should be whether there should be national health insurance in the first place. I don’t think that’s the right step to take. Health care is not a right, it’s a responsibility one assumes for themselves. About as far left as you’re going to be able to push me on this topic is catastrophic health insurance.
Obama is such a certified pathological liar that he makes Slick look like George (cherry tree) Washington.
The concept makes liberals feel good, because everybody has an insurance card. The fact that nobody is able to receive medical care, is of no consequence to them."
Perfect!
Ok, once again, let’s examine the fact that this is INSURANCE. If you want INSURANCE, you BUY INSURANCE for the amount of protection (coverage0 that you want or can afford.
If you can’t afford to BUY INSURANCE and, instead, ask the government to GIVE you INSURANCE, it is NOT INSURANCE, it is STEALING from those who work and make good decisions, and GIVING to those who don’t.
IOW, this is wealth re-distribution that will bankrupt the US. If you don’t grasp that simple concept, perhaps you shouldn’t vote this fall, because there is only a microscopically thin line between government provided health INSURANCE and government provided car INSURANCE or government provided home INSURANCE, etc.
Not being truthful? Obama? Please, please tell me it isn't so. Oh the horror, the humiliation! Oh! Oh! Oh!
And now they’re crapping on our jalapenos? This means war.
If you cant afford to BUY INSURANCE and, instead, ask DEMAND the government to GIVE you INSURANCE, it is NOT INSURANCE, it is STEALING from those who work and make good decisions, and GIVING to those who dont.
There...fixed it.

“We’ve got limited resources”
That’s the first time I heard a politician on either side of the aisle say such a thing in a long time. Let’s remember this moment for future Obama plans that include spending our money.
Thanks. I like your fix!!
“Indeed, he’s said his plan “does not” cover illegals:”
Of course it doesn’t *rolling eyes*....but they won’t BE illegals after he gives them amnesty.
