Citing a lack of interest, the Nevada Republican Party has called off its state convention and will instead pick its delegates to the national convention by private conference call.
The state party broke up its original convention in April when supporters of Ron Paul hijacked the proceedings and tried to elect delegates for their candidate to the national GOP convention in September. Party officials tried to reconvene on July 26, but they needed a quorum of 675 and received only 300 RSVPs, according to local reports.
With so many people concerned about the economy, it simply wouldnt be fair for us to ask delegates from all over the state to spend money to attend a convention if we know that a quorum wont be present, state party Chairwoman Sue Lowden said in a release.
The news provides further evidence of a fractured and unenthusiastic Republican Party in some parts of the country. Last week, the GOP nominee in a North Carolina congressional race suspended his campaign while he confronted fissures in his own party. Polling suggests a significant enthusiasm gap on the part of Republican voters this year, which has left the partys candidate, Sen. John McCain, trailing Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama in the presidential contest.

I read somewhere that theres a strip club owner (Gilardi I think was the name) who is a big player in the nevada republican party.
Nevada politics are interesting :)
12-15 years ago, Harry Reid won by 400 and some votes only. He doesn’t have a lot of fans but he keeps winning elections.
It’s possible for issues on the ballot to pass (smoking banned in restaurants and bars that serve food) and not know anyone who voted for it :)
Now I'm reading about a law suit...I don't follow Nevada politics, but some of those comments were quite interesting.
Your position is logical, except that if McCain loses with or without your vote, why bother to cast your ballot for big-government conservatism?
If Barr is TOO flawed (I do understand), then please put your resources in appropriate congressional and senatorial races rather than blowing them on statist loser McCain.
No I didn’t and now I can’t get back in. I’ll try again later and read them.
So you suggest I take my support out of state?
Massachusetts has an all-Democrat congressional delegation. Most of them are moonbats or frauds or drunks.
No, they’re better with voting for Baldwin, but hey who cares about the Constitution Party even though it’s bigger than the LP?
This isn’t an attack at you, I’m just frustrated when they people present the LP as the ONLY alternative especially when the Constitution Party exists and in my opinion better represents Constitutional values (hence the name).
exactly.... (for those who can’t vote for Ron Paul cuz he won’t be on the ballot)
