Produced? Yes.

Sold? No.

Gone are the days when Harleys commanded waiting lists. The local Harley dealers, when last I heard, had started having lots of backstock of bikes.

It’s like Microsoft with Vista and the Zune. Sure, they made a lot and shipped a lot... but the numbers of them appearing in the wild don’t seem to add up.

That said, all Harley owners are a**holes.

Thanks for being painted with that broad brush.
You do know that you're giving Honda riders a bad name, don't you?

As for Harley riders not waving - whatever. Almost every rider I meet will give a wave, as do I, no matter WHAT they're riding.

I'm beginning to believe you don't like Harleys and are letting that cloud your judgment about anyone that rides one.

Good luck with that, baseless, grudge.

I’ve never checked the gas mileage, I do know it’ll make the 122 mile trip to the coast and back without refueling.

I don’t check the mileage on either of my four wheeled vehicles. I checked the mileage on my ‘90 Ford Bronco in ‘90 and it got 15 mpg, I don’t know what it gets today.

I checked the mileage on my ‘01 Ford F150 SVT Lightning when I got it and it got 15 mpg. That was when it was new with the stock 380 HP engine, it now has 450 HP and I don’t what the mileage is.

I’ve owned 23 bikes over the years, three were Harleys, the rest were Japanese: Honda; (one,) Yamaha: (one,) Kawasaki: (one) and Suzuki: (twelve,) German: Sachs and Maico, English: prewar Velocette and Spanish: Bultaco Pursang.

I liked them all, especially Suzuki’s!

Spktyr, I love motorcycles, I love to hang around people who ride motorcycles, and there is nothing I like doing better than riding my motorcycle with my friends who ride every brand under the sun.

Now let men tell you what I don't like. I hate people who spend an extraordinary amount of time putting down a particular brand of motorcycle, in this case Harleys. These kind of people have an inferiority complex base on a figment of their imagination.

You see, Spkter, when you ride up on your Honda in front of a group of people riding Harleys, I promise you that you are not the topic of conversation. In other words Spktyr no one gives a shit what you ride.

I checked Wiki, here is what they say:

Performance (for stock model)

Model 1999-2002
1/4 Mile 12.04 sec @ 107.22 mph
0-60 mph 3.76 sec
0-100 mph 9.94 sec
Roll-On, 60-80 mph 4.44 sec
Fuel Mileage 45-55 mpg
Range (exc. Reserve) ~130 mi

Does that answer your questions??

What kind of motorcycle do you ride?

Yes, thanks.

I don't. The only bike I've owned was a 450 Suzie a few decades ago.

You warned me but I had to look. I’m such an idiot. I think I’ll buy some carbon credits from Al Gore.

I don’t remember any decades old 450 Suzuki’s?

They make a 450 RMZ and a 450 LT-R quad.

I forget the model name/number but it was a sport model, with the flat seat. It was on sale because no one wanted that style.

With the attitude you have for other bikers not riding Hondas, it’s no wonder you got your ass kicked!

Every single motorcycle thread posted here since you joined has some derogatory comments against HD riders by you.

When is the last time you checked your valve clearance on that Nighthawk, Sparky? Care to mention what a PITA that is with your fellow riders? Can’t get parts anymore? What a surprise . . .

I owned a CB750F back in 1981 that would make your 883 troubles look like a walk in the park. Electrical failures left me stranded several times; the bike would simply die in traffic. I got real good at hitting the shoulder at a moment’s notice. The supposedly well built inline four would buzz the fillings out of your teeth an put your hans to sleep. The constant electric buzz through the handlebars meant riding without gloves was NOT an option.

The fact that you’re still riding that Nighthawk, a UJM if there ever was one, says a lot about the validity (ie. narrow-mindedness) of your comments, not to mention the size of your wallet. Perhaps maybe, just maybe, your UJM inspired opinions aren’t the be-all end-all de facto truths you portend them to be.

BTW, do you actually know personally anyone who owns a Harley? Didn’t think so . . .

You’re really testing my memory but I think that is it. Mine was a silver-gray. It wasn’t a beast but it was quick enough.

They also sold a "trimmed up" model referred to as the GS450S. I actually got to ride one way back when. Light, good looking & fun. It wasn't a fire breather, but would easily trot down the highway all day at speed without trouble.

That must be it, the dealer I bought my '81 GS1100E didn't have any of those on display. I had a '79 GS550 for a short time.

My GS1100E had a red strip on the tank, this one is blue:

Yeah, that was true. Get the butt back and the head down and the handling at speed was nice. Didn't actually have it that long as it got stolen. Maybe for the best as I never got around to that license thing.
