Calif Freepers meet several Heroes

Posted on 07/22/2008 8:50:29 AM PDT by Aquakat

Do any So Cal Freepers want to meet several true Heroes?

Pfc xxxxx,US ARMY is home on leave from Ft. Sam Houston. He was hit by an IED in the sand box and suffered burns about his body. He lost several buddies in the attack. He is undergoing therapy at Fisher House in Texas.

Our hero, xxxxx, wrote the following before he went in. "I go because" I go for a multitude of reasons, many which make sense to me alone and cannot be expressed in words, for words can never describe the deepest truisms in life.

I go to serve my country and protect those I love. I go to honor those who have served and fallen before me, not only those of this country, but of all who paid with blood to make the world better. I go because I believe that I must be willing to fight and die for what I believe or I am nothing. I go because I have been called upon to serve. I go because I will gain a deeper understanding of who I am. I go because I realize that a constant battle is raging between good and evil, hope and despair, life and death. I have chosen my side and go to fight in the War of Life.

This Hero will be at the Orange Circle this Wed. 23 July.

Standing with this Hero, among others, will be a VN vet that lost a leg along with other body parts. When returning, in a wheelchair, he was confronted and knocked to the ground along with his chair by the anti-American group.

We (mostly biker vets as individuals) will be standing strong and proud for all our Heroes at the Orange Circle, Chapman & Glassell. We will be there Tomorrow Wed July 23, 5PM to about 7PM, bring flags and signs.

Kudos to this and other vets Aquakat. My family is getting together for a birthday dinner on Wednesday, but I salute these men for their service.

God bless them.

I also met a California hero. You may have seen his face on recruiting billboards throughout SOCAL for the Marines. He is a Bronze Star recipient and was in the first “push” across the border into Iraq on the initial invasion. He is out now. He applied to a large fire agency and was turned down due to borderline vision issue. He has his “package” in to the USMC to reenlist. He was good enough to “firefight” in Iraq, but not welcomed as a firefighter in California. Go figure. SEMPER FI, hero!

Here is a Thread about Patriots going to this area on a consistent basis.

It's not clear if SHATNERFAN1706 goes or has just passed by, but he/she is aware of it.

Hopefully there will be a good turnout tomorrow

SHATNERFAN1706, here is an announcement about Orange Circle.
