CONTENT: AL GORE, CLIMATE CHANGE, OBAMA, MCCAIN

ROBIN ROBERTS (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) Amazing. The always dapper Sam Champion, thank you very, very much. Now to Al Gore's big challenge to the presidential candidates to help solve our energy crisis. The former vice president wants the country to produce all of its - electricity with Earth-friendly power sources within the next 10 years.

GRAPHICS: SAYS CLIMATE WORSE THAN TERROR

ROBIN ROBERTS (ABC NEWS)

(Voiceover) Our senior national correspondent Claire Shipman spoke to Gore about his ambitious plan and his new warning about how dire the situation is.

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Today, I challenge our nation to commit to producing 100% of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) Do you think that right now, climate change is as much a threat to our country as terror?

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Both are serious, must be addressed. That having been said, I think that the climate crisis is, by far, the most serious threat we have ever faced.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) You have praised both Barack Obama and John McCain for what they're talking about in terms of environmental policies and some Democratic eyebrows have been raised at your praise of John McCain's. Democrats worried that maybe you're, you're gonna help him get elected.

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Well, I've endorsed Barack Obama. I'm a Democrat. But I think that, that John McCain deserves credit for having provided some leadership in the Republican Party years ago at a time when it was needed.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) One of the things John McCain talks about is in addition to pursuing alternative sources of energy is renewed drilling, and he makes the case that drilling can be environmentally safe now, it's the same sort of thing that President Bush says.

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Since the first oil crisis back in the early '70s, we've been told that if we simply go for more oil, gasoline prices will come down. We need to break free of this old pattern that's holding us back and develop the renewable sources that can bring about the equivalent of $1 a gallon gasoline.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) You are on everybody's list, as I'm sure you've seen, short list for, for VP. Wanna do it again?

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Well, I, I, you're, you're looking at different list than I am. I - I've decided to impose a personal term limit of two terms as vice president.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) Many people are also talking about the fact that you would make an incredibly effective environmental czar...

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Mm-hmm.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) ...either for Barack Obama or John McCain. Is that, is that the sort of job that would interest you?

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Well, now, the title of czar is intriguing, but...

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) It's nice. In a different country maybe, but...

AL GORE (FOUNDER

Yeah. In all seriousness, I do see my role as one that's focused on changing public opinion.

CLAIRE SHIPMAN (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) Are you saying that some sort of Cabinet post might, in fact, limit your ability to influence that issue?

CLIP FROM "AN INCOVENIENT TRUTH"

AL GORE (FOUNDER

I think my best use is in trying to change public opinion and get the facts out there and get the solutions out there.

ROBIN ROBERTS (ABC NEWS)

(Off-camera) Our Claire Shipman talking with the former vice president. Chris?

The more desperate the globull warming alarmists sound, the closer we ate getting to widespread and undeniable proof that the planet is actually cooling and their window of opportunity to force a 14th century lifestyle on us is slipping away.

Compared to this loudmouth empty suit, Dan Quayle is a MENSA graduate.
Of course, his loudmouth moron supporters don't think so; but history has a way of evening things out.

I think maybe he has some kind of a deal where the terrorists will leave him alone. :)

None of these worthless excuses for urinalists can ask him how much money he's making off Global Warming, why he hasn't denounced his Big Oil inheritance, or how he trades carbon credits with, and donates his Nobel prize to, a company in which he is the CEO, or why his estate burns 20 times as much as the average household, or why he refuses to debate the subject with dissenters.

He's a Fraud, being propped up by Fraud urinalists.

Al Gore is with Kleiner Perkins looking to invest in windmills and other renewable energy technologies. His scares the kids and their parents to death and then says ‘buy my windmills to save the world.’ Any other ‘preacher’ trying to make money off this extortive fear of global warming would be tarred and feather - but Gore gets a free pass. He is looking more like Elmer Gantry every day.

The only good thing I can say about their idiocy, is that it does force us look ahead, to branch out and look at other resources. In that sense, it's not all bad. But, at the same time, it is sheer idiocy that, since 9/11, we do not have more clean coal plants, pebble bed nuke plants, recycling of nuke waste, more drilling where the oil and natural gas is, more refineries (even with all the strict EPA standards), and on and on.

There's no excuse for it.

NIMBY? Still no excuse. We have plenty of wide open space.

You want to put one of these plants in my "back yard"? Do it!

Southwest of Tucson, there is miles and miles of nothingness. Put a plant out there, over a ridge, and no one will know it's there! I ain't real worried about it! If you did it right, you could probably even make any ranchers that might be out there happy!
