Romney moves up as Potential McCain VP
NPR ^ | July 20 | Ron Elving

Once upon a time, people who wanted to be president were not expected to admit it in public. This mask of false indifference had to be dropped when the rise of primaries forced candidates to campaign actively for the office.

Well we see eye to eye then. I like the honesty bit about Mitt. The Cheer leading for him makes me a bit ill, it should be saved for the public eye.

Haley is saving it up down here in MS.

Romney not running for Governor of Utah has nothing to do with his stance on abortion.

What would you call someone who trolls threads looking to discredit the most Conservative candidate in the race?

Romney haters of course.

think it’s a lot harder than we think working in a state full of libs.

By all accounts Mitt did the best job he could.

That is a fact.

Evangelical bigotry must stop.

It is is UNChristian.

Instead of having Evangelicals look like a bunch of hate filled hypocrites, Make Mitt their prayer target.

And it may well be, and more power to them, but it will not change reality.

Publicly I will be all for them, because I fear Obama more, But among peers I will hold no delusion that Mitt is a rock solid core conservative than I can completely trust to do the right thing, that I will not be praying he holds to his current words, not his history.

One saving grace, this will get Mitt out of the 2012 picture. Neither one of these tickets has what it takes to keep the coming problems from hitting this nation. Reagan's economy, now so damaged after years of neglect and abuse, can no longer glide past the likes of a Clinton Administration like it did in the 90s. The only one who can boost it back up is a Conservative in the vein of a Reagan.

Who ever wins in ‘08 will more than likely not have a chance in 2012. We are entering a new and unfamiliar territory.

No.

The Huckster was governor of a CONSERVATIVE state and did all kinds of terrible things.

Mitt was governor of a LIBERAL state and actually got things done.

Actually he was “Pro Life" while backing pro choice politics according to his own admittance, so he was flipping and flopping simultaneously at one point. No sense in believing that has changed until he proves it with action.

Roll tape...

Mitt Romney: "I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose, and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard."

Well your anger over that could put Obama in the White House.

Your boys Willard and Juan will do that.

Mitt was governor of a LIBERAL state and actually got things done.

He sure did. Gay marriage. Socialized medicine complete with taxpayer-funded abortions. Homosexualized state government and public schools. A permanent "assault" weapons ban.

Joy.

Mitt didn’t DO any of those things.

He did the best he could working in a liberal state.

I don’t think you understand how liberal MA is.

The lies people say about Mitt are awful.

Some facts for these bigots:

AP: Mass. Senate votes to let out-of-state gays marry

By STEVE LeBLANC – July 15, 2008

BOSTON (AP) — Gay couples from across the country are one step closer to a Massachusetts wedding.

The state Senate voted Tuesday to repeal a 1913 law used to bar out-of-state gay couples from marrying in the state. The move to repeal the law, which prohibits couples from obtaining marriage licenses if they couldn’t legally wed in their home states, is driven in part by California’s recent legalization of same-sex marriage.

The House is expected to vote on the repeal later this week. Gov. Deval Patrick, D., whose 18-year-old daughter announced publicly last month that she is a lesbian, would have 10 days to sign it.

Michael Thorne, 55, and James Theberge, 50, say they’re hoping for an August wedding in Provincetown.

The Maine couple have been together for 25 years, have two children, and wanted to get married four years ago after Massachusetts became the first state to legalize gay marriages. They were BLOCKED when then -Gov. MITT ROMNEY ORDERED town clerks to ENFORCE THE LITTLE -KNOWN LAW AND DENY LICENSES TO OUT-OF-STATE GAY COUPLES.

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h...B5hYwD91V07KO0

The Massachusetts legislature is pulling out all the stops to recapture its title as the most liberal state in the union on marriage. Yesterday, the Bay State Senate voted to repeal a 95-year-old law that former Gov. MITT ROMNEY enforced to prevent out-of-state homosexuals from “marrying.”

(Thanks Mitt!!!! Lying EVANGELICALS WLL HAVE YOU BELIEVE OTHERWISE.)

To justify the move, the Senate pointed to a report commissioned by the state that claimed non-resident “marriages” would bring in an estimated $110 million. As groups like FRC have argued, money can’t undo the damage done to society by the state’s campaign to expand homosexual “marriage.”

Massachusetts liberals are hoping to throw open their borders to same-sex couples from the 24 states without marriage protection amendments. The region most likely to take advantage of the invitation is nearby New York, whose governor, David Paterson (D), made the unilateral decision to recognize out-of-state “marriages” without putting the idea to a democratic test.

Marc Solomon of MassEquality brushed off criticism of the Senate vote, saying, “We think this issue has lost some of its edge. It’s just not a big deal. Americans look at this and they wonder why these groups are constantly talking about gay marriage when gas prices and the war in Iraq are so much more critical.”

(They’re trying to distract you from this issue. It IS a PRIORITY to them.)

On the contrary, the issue is enough of a “big deal” that Massachusetts senators held a cowardly voice vote on the repeal to ensure that senators votes would be anonymous, and state voters would be unable to hold them accountable. As to this notion that same-sex “marriage” is growing more popular, it’s simply not true. In a July Pew Research Center poll, only 15 percent of Americans surveyed “strongly favored” legislation that would “allow gays and lesbians to marry legally.” More than double that (31 percent) “strongly opposed” the idea.

The bill to overturn the 1913 law now heads to the House, where it is expected to pass before heading to Gov. Deval Patrick’s (D) desk.

If he does get to be the VP choice, then that will be true again.

Mitt did do those things. And more.

Romney is a Liberal's liberal.

THAT is why Romney had to fabricate that the NRA backed him for Governor.
Did it. I think not.

Typical Romney falsehood: "I also was pleased to have the support of the NRA when I ran for governor."

Typical Romney falsehood: "I told you what my position was, and what I, what I did as governor; the fact that I received the endorsement of the NRA."

The truth:

Romney: "“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA
Boston Herald (1994)

Romney: " “I don’t line up with the NRA.
Boston Globe, January 14, 2007

"...and the meeting he claims that changed his mind [about abortion] has been as articulately proven not to have happened as he claims."

I haven't even heard this story (about the meeting or the debunking). Would you elaborate or, better yet, provide a link? (Not that I'm doubting that Romney bent the truth; I'm just curious about the details.)

Mitt didn’t DO any of those things.

Bullhockey.

He unconstitutionally and unlawfully ordered the justices of the peace to do gay "marriages" upon threat of firing and ordered the changing of marriage licenses to accommodate the practice. He pushed for, passed and signed socialized medicine complete with taxpayer-funded abortions. He oversaw his own agencies' complete joining with the most disgusting and radical homosexual activists and pushed their evil agenda into every corner of state government, even appointing some of them to high positions, including on the courts. He pushed for and signed the "assault" weapons ban, saying, "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

One of two things is true: Either you don't know what in the heck you're talking about, or you're a bald-faced liar.
