Iran does not expect Israeli or U.S. attack

Iran said on Friday it did not expect an attack from Israel or the United States triggered by the long-running dispute over its nuclear programme.

"The possibility of such an attack (from Israel or the U.S.) is almost zero," Mottaki said, via a translator, in an interview with Turkish broadcaster NTV during a visit to Turkey.

However, when asked whether it meant Iran was ready to freeze any expansion of its nuclear programme in return for the U.N. Security Council halting further sanctions measures against it, the source said "not at all".

This can only be good news, because if Israel were to attack -- then it wants to attack with the element of surprise! The philosophy in the Israeli military is simply this -- if you're bold and daring enough to do it, then you'll succeed. For example in years past, the raid on Entebbe, as well as the successful attacks on the Iraq and Syrian nuclear reactors.

As far as the meeting in Geneva, what seems puzzling to many Washington Insiders is President Bush's change of stance sending William Burns, the undersecretary of state for political affairs, to open diplomatic relations with Iran despite the fact they've not stopped enriching uranium which has been a longstanding precondition laid by the administration before any diplomatic talks begin.

When the talks fail, and if the call for a tactical strike on Iran is given -- then it can be said -- we tried to even means of diplomacy before the war started.

Until next time,

“The possibility of such an attack (from Israel or the U.S.) is almost zero,” ...

Sadam Hussein (no relation to Barack Hussein Obama) once had similar thoughts.

Sadly, I think the Iranian President’s bluff will not be called by either Israel or the USA. He said that a new Iranian war would usher in the circumstances needed for the coming of the shi’s branch of islam’s messiah, the Madhi. It all sounds just crazy enough to make any head of state extremely recitent to pull the trigger on Iran. Unfortunately, a nuclear Iran means that much of Israel will be destroyed at some point in the near future. The Bible reports that as much as 90% of Israel is destroyed in this upcoming attack.

The propaganda is running wild in Iran at the moment. I found this clip http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1800.htm of the Iranian President telling the Iranian people that Commanders of the US military are terrified of Iran’s might. It starts off basically saying that the President wanted a war with Iran since day one and it has been his ultimate goal. But after requesting some fly buys over Iran military commanders told Bush
“Impossible. You are not familiar with the might of the Iranian people.”

At which point “These commanders described such a frightening atmosphere that he hurried to leave Baghdad for Australia. He was running away.”

Somehow I can’t see this actually happening. But I would like to point out that they are amping up for a fight. Notice the background on which Ahmadinejad speaks?

Why don’t McCain and Bush get off their duffs and take their oil weapon away in the next year? That would restore Republican fortunes and collapse the Iranian theocracy as they overreacted, having destroyed their economy except for crude revenues.
