Cut back on the starch and eats lot of meat!

They need cheap protein? I suggest eggs. And buy a chicken when it goes on sale.

Meals from a chicken:

  1. Roast the chicken. Eat the chicken breasts.
  2. Make gravy out of the drippings. Add chunks of dark meat to the gravy and serve over toast or ($1.00 a pound) egg noodles.
  3. Make soup out of the carcass.
When we were first married, we had some lean times. We ate chicken livers and gizzards with onions. We had hot dogs with macaroni and cheese. One time we went a couple days on popcorn and ice tea. You can get by on little money and not starve or blimp out.

I went through a tough stretch. I went to the local farmer and picked raspberries. I Made $5 and a box of raspberries.

Went to the store, bought a chicken, carrots, onions, macaroni. Made a kettle of chicken soup.

8 chicken salad sandwiches and soup until I was bloated.

I do the same thing in good times (now) except the $5 come from a good job.

Yeap, yesterday I bought four chicken quarters for $2.50. on sale.

I'll stew the chickens, pick them and then using the broth add noodles and a can of cream of mushroom soup, some veggies, and spices.

Right before its done, whip up some dumplings from bisquit and drop them in.

A meal that cost no more than $3.50, and I have enough for left overs tomorrow.

Sounds like a meal for one for these two.
