Obama Natural born citizen or not? (From Hillary Clinton forum and PUMA members--http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=20436)

I just posted an article credited by the Associated Press on Barack Obama’s citizenship

Makes me wonder how much research Donna Cassata, the AP Political Editor in Washington did to make her undocumented remarks

I now propose that the producer of these videos has done far more research on documenting Obama’s birth than Ms. Cassata ever thought about doing.

My opinion - the mainstream press has let us down again.

Post From PUMA member:

"Missing grant records

Missing health records

Missing legislative records ( he said these were thrown out)

Missing law client list

Missing state bar application

Phony birth certificate posted on his “fight the smears” site

He’s never released a specific list of law clients, instead giving a list of all of his firm’s clients, numbering several hundred each year. His campaign will only confirm representation when the media comes to them with a specific case.

He won’t release his application to the state bar. He’s never released any legal or billing records to verify that he only did a few hours of work for a nonprofit tied to Tony Rezko.

He’s never released any medical records, just a one-page letter from his doctor.

Isn’t it about time we DEMANDED the release of these mysterious records

If PUMA takes out a full page ad in NYT or other newspaper, I and others will contribute.

Also we need to ask 1 question:

Are you or have you ever been a citizen of another country?

He had to have a passport for his 1981 trip to Pakistan.

Question is, did it have a blue cover?

Hillary’s LSAT would CRUSH Obama’s.

She's the smartest woman in the world, and he's a disadvantaged minority. On the other hand, its well known that she didn't pass her bar exam on the first try (nor for that matter did Michelle).

These issues should be clarified. The original, unchanged birth certificate for any candidate for POTUS - Obama and McCain' should be public record. Also, both parents have to be American citizens and the candidate has to be born in this country.

Questions have been raised about the eligibility of both candidates, especially Obama, and there should be no problem in verifying the information. What if Obama's mother had renounced her citizenship? For McCain, being born on a US military base is not the same as being born in the USA. In view of the outlandish decisions by the Supreme Court, it would come as no surprise if it said McCain did not meet the criteria.

"If his mother is an American then he is an American no matter where he was born. "

You are mistaken.

If he was born outside the US to one US citizen and one non-citizen, he is not automatically a citizen, and he is not a 'natural-born' citizen.

He is automatically eligible for permanent residence with a pathway to citizenship (but not 'natural-born') citizenship).

But BOTH of his parents were US citizens, unlike Obama.

This issue also came up in 1968, when George Romney (Mitt's dad) ran for the GOP nomination. George Romney was born in Mexico of American parents. The consensus then was that the fact that both parents were US citizens meant that he qualified as "natural-born," even though he was born outside the US.

Let us disqualify both of them and start over, wouldn’t bother me.

For everyone running for POTUS - not just Obama and McCain - original birth certificates and parents' citizenship status should be released to the public.

In Obama's case there are several questions, in McCain's there is the question of him born in a foreign country. Considering some of the controversial interpretations made by the Supreme Court, it might decide against McCain.

There is no question if both parents of a candidate are citizens AND he is born in the United States. If not, then it needs clarification. I would not want a POTUS who holds dual citizenship.
