Obama targets Alaska as battleground state, aide says

The Barack Obama presidential campaign is pouring money into the Republican bastion of Alaska to beat John McCain and to help the Alaska Democrats running for Congress against Ted Stevens and Don Young.

"We've taken a look at the political dynamic of Alaska and, as a result, have made Alaska one of our 18 battleground states," said Obama deputy campaign manager Pete Rouse. "We believe we can win in Alaska and we're making it a priority."

"Alaska has lots of hippies and liberals. They’re all like the ones in the lower 48."

And they all realize that they will get a lot more free stuff and government surplus checks with big oil setting up shop. Greed wins them over every time.

And they all get Permanent Fund checks (oil revenue) too.

But they will sacrifice those checks for the O-MESSIAH. ;)

That's stupid. Obama needs to focus on spending all of his $$$ in Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico.

He wins those, then we'll have to say "hello President Obama".

Actual tourists tend to be over 65. They always wanted to see Alaska and now that they can drive the Winnebago up the Highway here they are. Not so many this year. Japanese fly in since the drive is difficult.

The youngsters also show up in large numbers but looking for those Pipeline jobs rather than adventure. Liberals? Greenies? No two ways about that.

Only democrats are effected.. but many Alaskan democrats are not stupid..

I'm already sick of all the Obama commercials. But even though I may be stark raving by November, I won't be stupid enough to vote for Obama.
