A Trip Down Memory Lane Red Planet Cartoons
Remember what President Bush was saying back in 2001?
Think back seven years to when Bush delivered the same message THEN that Americans are demanding NOW of Congress: "Drill, Drill, Drill"?
He was ridiculed and called a greedy oilman by the same cheerleaders who now run interference for Barack Obama and congressional Democrats: the mainstream press.
Red Planet Cartoons has done an invaluable service, both in producing the cartoon above AND reproducing the quote below from a 2001 Time article on energy policy.
In May, convinced the nation was terrified of going California and hungering for a steak-and-eggs energy plan, Bush sold his plan as an aggressive drill-and-dig, anti-regulatory prescription to shoo away the tree-huggers and get the nation and the economy humming again. Two months later, a New York Times/CBS poll released last week found that not only do two-thirds of the nation think Bush and Cheney are too beholden to oil companies, 60 percent think the pair made the whole energy crisis up.
And why not? Energy prices are falling, both in the market and at the pump, and Alan Greenspan, in a post-rate-cut speech Thursday in Chicago, said energy-price inflation was the furthest thing from his mind. Time magazine: The GOP Try on Jimmy Carter's Sweater June 29m 2001

Does that vanity plate read COMMIE?
Commie....Sure looks it!!
It has a Gore sticker and COMMIE plates..abit redundant!

If a leftist democrat were calling for more drilling, the mainstream media would be calling it a brilliant plan.
They are simply water carriers for the left.
The leftists are so beholden to the environmental whackos and harbor so much hatred for 'big oil', President Bush and the freedom the personal automobile offers to ordinary people that they, like Obama, wouldn't care if gas prices doubled from what they now, This would effectively 'punish' the average American. A group of people that the elitist leftists, including the putative Democrat presidential candidate Barack H. Obama, think are too stupid to make any important decisions for themselves, especially on energy policy. Especially if it includes drilling for our own oil on our own land!
If I hear the idiotic leftist line: "we can't drill our way out of this" one more time, I'll scream. I may scream anyway, out of frustration with the America-hating leftist media that ignores reality to push some vapid, pie-in-the-sky left-wing agenda that has the woefully unprepared and inadequate Barack Obama as the would-be political Messiah of America, when it's obvious he's just another hard-left, socialist minded, class envy-addicted politician. A man who has enjoyed almost every benefit this great county can offer but yet cares nothing about the average American's freedom and liberty but only about getting even with imagined capitalist villains and making government the new seat of all power with this laughably inadequate poser as the new Caesar.
Pray for America and that intellectually lazy, apathetic voters don't put this dangerous elitist in a position of power that could ultimately destroy the county we love and that he finds deficient in so many ways as he hides behind the flag, outright lies and a totally, willingly co-opted media.
>>>we can’t drill our way out of this
Whatever happened to “YES WE CAN”.
We can't. We need to build refineries. You can drill all the oil wells you want, but if we don't build more refineries, we are in the exact same position we are now because the refineries we have are at capacity. If one of them goes down for any reason, the price of gas jumps up in some anticipated shortage.
True & laden with irony. Once the break-even point is reached; increases in the price of oil are pure gravy for the oil companies (although, some of the gravy may go for increased royalty payments). By constricting global oil supplies, the Democrats and “environmentalist” organizations have been the biggest friends “big oil” has.
When some cretin claims we can’t drill our way out of this because it will take 2 years, or 5 years or 10 years, I just want to ask them how long until our energy needs are met by wind mills, or solar, or hamster power. Where is the magic go go juice alternative fuel and how frickin long will THAT take to come to market?
Both alternative fuels and oil resources have to be developed together to meet our future needs. Niether can be neglected.
As for wind and solar power, it will NEVER meet our needs, it can only compliment larger, more powerful and reliable sources.
I heard that poor Al Gore left his car idling with the air-conditioning going full blast while he gave a speech. He only wants to control what the little people do, not what he does.
I know he can buy carbon credits. Of course, the poor can't afford that. But it makes it OK to waste if you are rich. I just don't get it. Isn't that sort of elitist? It is what I have suspected all along. If you are rich enough (say a politician, actor or sports figure) you are entitled (because you have the money to buy carbon credits) but the rest of us must just suck it up and sacrifice for mother earth.
Mondo...kudos on the article and past quote from 2001.
We need to confront the Dems and Americans with the truth however blinded many may be...some will see the light of day. GWB was ridiculed from the get go by the rotgut Dems about energy, Now look where we are today and the lunatics are still blind with madness. We must defeat these cretins!
