WASHINGTON: Upon entering Congress in 1987, Representative Nancy Pelosi quickly became part of the solid California front against oil drilling along much of the nation's coast.

The 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and the steady push to tap the potential reserves off the state's rugged coast had galvanized Californians and made opposition to offshore drilling part of the political DNA of up-and-coming figures like Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi: Tower of Jello.

Pelosi to America: Walk more, drive less.

Pelosi to America: Politics are more important than energy independence.

Pelosi to America: Drop dead.

I'm sure there are more rigs in the Gulf of Mexico than all rigs off the coast of California. If not, then I will stand corrected.

My point is that all those hurricanes in the Guld never resulted in oil spills, or at least none that I can ever remember. Pelosi is an insufferable marxist who only uses "oil spills" as a ruse to kill capitalism.

The wealthy lefties and limousine liberals who can afford the homes on the coast don't want their views marred with unsightly oil rigs.

It is they who are Pelosi’s core constituency — and they don't give a darn about you and I struggling to fill our gas tanks just in order to get to our 9-5 jobs.

Since we're on the subject of oil....

Products Made From Oil

We can stop using oil. And live in the Stone Age.

Hows about it, Madame Speaker? Are you willing to do without all of those things...?

So she really is stuck in the 60’s. Can you imagine if the whole world based their ideas on what happened then?

Oh, I'm I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean for herself to do without any of these things. She just means all of us little people.

Will she also be against new Nuclear plants because of the “Meltdown” at Three Mile Island? Will she be against coal because of the New York Mining Disaster? The Titanic sank! The Hindenberg blew up! Icarus flew too close to the Sun!

Pelosi is indeed insufferable and she’s certainly wrong about drilling.

However, Gulf hurricanes do result in oil spills and leakages. The Coast Guard reported at least 7 million gallons spilled as a result of Katrina, although much of it came from refineries and industries related to oil rather than from the drill sites themselves. When oil drilling started back up, there were some random leaks as well, but have doesn’t sound like any were too large. Earlier, Hurricane Ivan resulted is some spills from rigs and pipelines, but didn’t see a number on how much.

Where you have oil and refining and shipping, you’re going to have some messes. It’s inevitable.

Nancy: "We can solve these high prices by shooting down the speculators!"

Jed: "Well... don't rightly know what a speceelater is, but I seen Granny shoot at some revenuers snoop'n 'round her still. Kept us from pay'n more fer her authritis medicine...and I only did some shoot'n at some food. If you'd jest let me get back to some good 'ol fashion, down and dirty, drill'n and pump'n, I think I kin fix your problem Miss Nancy."

Nancy: I'm flabbergasted that you would suggest such a crude thing on national television Mr. Clampett.

Jed: "Weee doggies Miss Nancy, when Jethro eats too much of Grannie's road kill stew, he gets them flabber gassers, too. Just take some baken soady to relieve that gas. But I thought we was here to talk about gasoline, not that kind of gas...

That is an awesome graphic. One of the best TV shows ever made.
Jed is a much more intelligent individual than is queen Nancy.
Even Jethro would be a better leader than Nancy.

Not to worry, there's no need to drill. The innovative "THOGPRA" (Transportation and Housing Options for Gas Price Relief Act of 2008) introduced yesterday by this twerp...

... is going to solve the problem by telling us stupid morons how to live our lives according to government diktats...AND use our tax money to educate us how to lead our lives by their rules!! The diktats include all the typical failed policies of the past:

Of course she is. California gets 7.5% tax on every dollar spent on gas. Cut the price and she’ll loose revenue. It’s not about the people, it’s about the money.

As has been frequently pointed out on this forum and elsewhere, this is gift-wrapped for the Republicans.

Unfortunately, I'm thinking McCain and the GOP will see it as "mean-spirited" to exploit the issue.

The Stupid Party.
