Weapons of Mass Destruction - Homosexual Marriages

Weapons of Mass. Destruction

The Massachusetts legislature is pulling out all the stops to recapture its title as the most liberal state in the union on marriage. Yesterday, the Bay State Senate voted to repeal a 95-year-old law that former Gov. MITT ROMNEY enforced to prevent out-of-state homosexuals from "marrying."

(Thanks Mitt!!!! He's a GOOD GUY!)

To justify the move, the Senate pointed to a report commissioned by the state that claimed non-resident "marriages" would bring in an estimated $110 million. As groups like FRC have argued, money can't undo the damage done to society by the state's campaign to expand homosexual "marriage."

Massachusetts liberals are hoping to throw open their borders to same-sex couples from the 24 states without marriage protection amendments. The region most likely to take advantage of the invitation is nearby New York, whose governor, David Paterson (D), made the unilateral decision to recognize out-of-state "marriages" without putting the idea to a democratic test.

Marc Solomon of MassEquality brushed off criticism of the Senate vote, saying, "We think this issue has lost some of its edge. It's just not a big deal. Americans look at this and they wonder why these groups are constantly talking about gay marriage when gas prices and the war in Iraq are so much more critical." On the contrary, the issue is enough of a "big deal" that Massachusetts senators held a cowardly voice vote on the repeal to ensure that senators votes would be anonymous, and state voters would be unable to hold them accountable. As to this notion that same-sex "marriage" is growing more popular, it's simply not true. In a July Pew Research Center poll, only 15 percent of Americans surveyed "strongly favored" legislation that would "allow gays and lesbians to marry legally." More than double that (31 percent) "strongly opposed" the idea.

The bill to overturn the 1913 law now heads to the House, where it is expected to pass before heading to Gov. Deval Patrick's (D) desk.

AP: Mass. Senate votes to let out-of-state gays marry

By STEVE LeBLANC – 1 day ago

BOSTON (AP) — Gay couples from across the country are one step closer to a Massachusetts wedding.

The state Senate voted Tuesday to repeal a 1913 law used to bar out-of-state gay couples from marrying in the state. The move to repeal the law, which prohibits couples from obtaining marriage licenses if they couldn't legally wed in their home states, is driven in part by California's recent legalization of same-sex marriage.

The House is expected to vote on the repeal later this week. Gov. Deval Patrick, whose 18-year-old daughter announced publicly last month that she is a lesbian, would have 10 days to sign it.

Michael Thorne, 55, and James Theberge, 50, say they're hoping for an August wedding in Provincetown.

The Maine couple have been together for 25 years, have two children, and wanted to get married four years ago after Massachusetts became the first state to legalize gay marriages. They were BLOCKED when then-Gov. MITT ROMNEY ORDERED town clerks to ENFORCE THE LITTLE -KNOWN LAW AND DENY LICENSES TO OUT-OF-STATE GAY COUPLES.

It's about time the truth is coming out about Mitt's fiscal and social conservative dredentials. I've seen many viscious lies about him. Most likely the real motivating reason is because he is a Mormom. It's time to put that aside. Like any other member of a cult religion, prayer is real and works!

Romney didn't lift a finger to combat the ruling allowing same-sex marriage and he nominated gay activist lawyers in favor of same-sex marriage to courts in Massachusetts.

There is nothing conservative about his record in Massachusetts. It's one Hillary Clinton would be proud of. But, the same fools that insisted Arnold Schwarzenegger was conservative are doing the same thing with Willard. Some people never learn.

Marxism fails wherever it is tried. The human misery that it creates is one of the tragedies of its social infection. Same sex marriage is a form of Marxism. It wants to redistribute human interaction so that all relationships are equal. The consequence of putting the institution of marriage on the same footing as other relationships will cause great human misery. When marriages fail, the human fabric is ripped and those who depend upon it, are destroyed.

Same sex marriage overlooks the fragile nature of that unique bond between man and woman. It ignores human nature that left to itself, will revert to the human savage nature that desires multiple partners. So typical of Marxism is that it ignores human nature and takes away the social supports that human nature needs to make marriage a success. This is done in the guise of equality and working for the common good.

We must treat same sex marriage for what it is, a social infection that must be destroyed.

It’s simple: Mitt Romney single-handedly, unconstitutionally, and illegally instituted “gay” “marriage” in Massachusetts.

You RomneyBOTs are less truthful than the Xlintons (a tough act to follow).

the Massachusetts Constitution ... states: "The power of suspending the laws,
or (suspending) the execution of the laws, ought never to be exercised but by the legislature..."
but "Gov. Romney's legal counsel issued a directive to the Justices of the Peace
that they must perform same-sex marriages when requested
or 'face personal liability' or be fired".

And so, despite your BS, the Massachusetts Constitution (the oldest in the US, perhaps)
forbade the Court from their decision as you say.
Romney should --and could-- have done nothing.
Instead, Romney ignored the Constitution and cowardly demanded that the Clerks obey the illegal order.

But for Romney, NOTHING would have happened.
Therefore, Romney must share responsibility with the Court
but then he and his BOTs would rather play 'victim'.

More goal post moving, considering the Mass SJC decision requiring same-sex marriage cited this statute to counter arguments against.

The unintended consequence of this will be to bolster the argument for a federal constitutional amendment.

non-resident "marriages" would bring in an estimated $110 million.

Why not open a few government brothels too? Those would probably bring in some pesos. How about a casino or two? Some gin joints? An abortuary?

When did government become about making money?

And aren't all the advocates of this crap the same people who routinely say governments shouldn't have to operate at a profit?
