I would hope that Fox, the govt., etc., provided benefits...but maybe not, if Rush has to ask.
Rush wouldn't ask if he didn't have to.

Kickass Conservative, well said. Rush believes that all of us can step up in whatever capacity we can afford. It’s the concept of giving and sharing with others, not the quantity of dollars.
Thank you. You said exactly what needed to be said.
It’s quite possible that Tony might have had a hard time getting enough life insurance, or it may have been extremely expensive, with the history of cancer in his family.
Rush is extremely generous to the causes that mean a lot to him. I imagine that he’s given handsomely to this one, but we’ll never know how much, because he won’t toot his own horn about something this private.
I’m sure Tony’s medical bills ate up a lot of money he might have put aside for his family, even WITH good health insurance.
I’m sorry. At the risk of sounding cold (because Tony really seemed like a fine man), the guy had years of work hosting television and radio programs (not to mention the President’s spokesman) where he HAD to have made a good living. If for some reason there’s not enough there to send his children to college... well... welcome to the real world. What’s stopping them from getting part time jobs and paying their OWN way through college?
Thanks for the ping on this one, L. I must have missed this part in the show today.
Darn right, KC.
Even though Tony was on TV and the radio doesn't mean he made millions of dollars at the jobs, and even if he did, if folks want to show their love and appreciation for his life, his character and his work, what's wrong with that?
“I would hope that Fox, the govt., etc., provided benefits...”
Why should the government beyond the ordinary social security benefit?
Thanks for the post!
He was the Press Secretary for the President (i.e. he held a government job).
“Adult life pitches us into a blur or rapidly passing crises and preoccupations, and the chief challenge for any of us is to contend with quotidian urgencies without sacrificing our priorities.”
“Occasionally, people lose their way and regain their perspective only after suffering reversal or loss. But sometimes we get lucky-—thanks to 3-year olds who know how to ask a few obvious questions and thus guide us toward redemption”.
This quote from Tony in his 21 Jan 99, titled, “What my 3-year-old taught me.”
That is wonderful of Rush as well as TGO, Mark Levin. God Bless them both.
BTW, I was wondering how old are Mr. Snow’s kids? They must be at least high school age. Thanks.
Should be his current employer CNN; unless he was an independent contractor, which hired him in April of 2008, not Fox which he left in April of 2006.
Which IIRC paid him about $187,000.00+expenses+full health care for him and his family per year. I believe at the beginning he said he took a "cut in pay" to take the gig. Also, IIRC he quit the gubmint job after 17 months to "take care of his family financially" as his reason - he was quite clear that Presidential press secretary didn't pay enough and he had taken out a loan to help finance his gig while there. He moved on from this gig to one that paid and/or had better benies. The stated "cancer" gig with Ferraro, I guess. Non-profits really raise a lot of money, you know.
I'm really sorry that he couldn't find it possible to take care of his kids financially the way Rush thought he should. But unfortunately, that's life!
I think I'll go make another "donation" to my grandchildren's college fund in memory of Tony.
Is there another FReeper out there who will match it?
I believe his eldest is a sophomore in high school.
I made my check out for $50.00 last night and ready to put it in the mail.
As another poster stated, it’s possible for someone to ‘fail’ to qualify for health insurance. That could’ve been the reason; who knows. In any case, it’s a way to honor the guy through his kids. No one says we have to give a penny.
