On Monday night, at a fund-raiser in New Mexico, John McCain said this about his former mortal enemy, Mitt Romney: Im appreciative every time I see Mitt on television on my behalf. He does a better job for me than he did for himself as a matter of fact. This may not have been a joke.
Yesterday, Romney sat down for an interview with CBS News. It is a striking interview, in part because Romney seems to be making the McCain argument better than McCain, or McCain's campaign. There is a clarity to the soundbites that McCain has mostly lacked, a clear line of attack against Obama's experience and McCain's plans. Add to that whatever fundraising burst Romney could provide as a VP candidate, as well as Romney's strength in key swing states like Michigan and Nevada, and it's not hard to see why McCain may end up with a running mate whose hand he didn't shake in the primaries.

EXCEPT: Mitt says in the interview that McCain distinguishes himself from Obama on drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. This is wrong, according to the latest McCain statements. Both McCain and Obama oppose drilling in ANWR.

My issue is still with attitude and acknowledgment, and some other little details, for example, the Mormon bit and Mitt basher thing was less of an impact than Mitt's own inability to sell himself. He is responsible for that, the rest are excuses.
Oh, and politics is the ultimate game, otherwise we would not be having this conversation, because there would be no call for vanity candidates and single issue wonders...
I supported Tancredo through the primaries.
He threw his support behind Mitt and I started taking a closer look at Mitt.
He is very impressive.
What is a little exaggerated ? We have 650,000 people in this county, there are an estimated 10 people, perhaps more, alone in the house next door (meant for between 3-5). I estimate upwards of 1/3rd in this county are Hispanic, that’s around 200,000 or so, and I estimate of that, at least half are here illegally (and that may be putting it mildly). They are literally everywhere in this part of the county, forcing out existing residents. Even Blacks that moved here away from the projects are beating an escape. They’ve had enough of the mess.
Paging Dr. Freud. I think you have hit the nail on the head. When ever someone behaves in an extreme manner it is usually a case of that person attempting to compensate for their own sense of inadequacy.
The Conservative Yellowjackets... Hmm... We’re coming to sting you liberal RINOs. ;-D
They are indeed, but we cannot cede the field of battle to them. Heaven forbid we make it look like FR actually endorses that phony liberal !
Good heavens. Deja vu. Same lines, same arguments. BTW, my opinion of Weld is identical to Slick Willard. Weld started the job, Willy finished it. MA GOP DOA. But then, you know that already.
True, but I can survie it...
Well it is bed time, G’night...
I believe you are incorrect. I have never previously discussed with you on an earlier thread that Tancredo was paid off by Romney to support him and I am unaware of any documentation that Tancredo was bribed.
Serious charges of this nature should not be casually made.
We agree wholeheartedly. It is most unfortunate.
So you favor the tax on consumption?
A hundred tons of ballast on the deck of the Titantic. Let ‘em sink.
At this point, until such time as the situation changes, I am neither for, nor opposed to McCain. I am opposed to Obama and I’m opposed to liberals like *omney that pave the way for the Obamas. I’ve been waiting for McCain to give me a reason to vote for him, he has yet to, but he could also give me a reason to vote against him with the VP pick.
I understand. I have no problem with your opinion. That’s what FR is for.
Yup. As I’ve stated endlessly, and to the chagrin of the bots that would like to call me a bigot, I don’t care what ole Slick Willard’s religion is, but apparently to some others, it is an issue. If a Mormon were Conservative (like a Bob Bennett type, the junior Senator from Utah), I could vote for him for President, but I won’t support a liberal like *omney regardless of his religion, period.
G’night. ;-)
I didn’t casually make it. Follow the money. It always leads you to the truth.
