On Monday night, at a fund-raiser in New Mexico, John McCain said this about his former mortal enemy, Mitt Romney: Im appreciative every time I see Mitt on television on my behalf. He does a better job for me than he did for himself as a matter of fact. This may not have been a joke.
Yesterday, Romney sat down for an interview with CBS News. It is a striking interview, in part because Romney seems to be making the McCain argument better than McCain, or McCain's campaign. There is a clarity to the soundbites that McCain has mostly lacked, a clear line of attack against Obama's experience and McCain's plans. Add to that whatever fundraising burst Romney could provide as a VP candidate, as well as Romney's strength in key swing states like Michigan and Nevada, and it's not hard to see why McCain may end up with a running mate whose hand he didn't shake in the primaries.
[See video at link]
EXCEPT: Mitt says in the interview that McCain distinguishes himself from Obama on drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. This is wrong, according to the latest McCain statements. Both McCain and Obama oppose drilling in ANWR.

A better question would be..
WHERE WAS FRED WHEN FRED NEEDED STRONG SUPPORT?
Fred said himself he didn’t even want to be President.
He had no drive to do the job.
See my previous post.
"I suspect the Internet research you allude to is probably along the lines of the KOS, Huffington Post, Mass. Resistance, et al. The Internet can be a great tool for some, not for all. I feel for ya bro. You've been exposed for who you are. Not an enviable position. Have a good night."
Thanks, and of course, I don't visit those liberal websites I'm sure you frequent. I'm proud to be a troll-fighter against the paid liberal shills of *omney on FR. I've been fighting you guys for a long time now, and will continue to do so as long as you darken this websites doorsteps. You sleep well now. :-)
Romney has the support of Tom Tancredo.. because Mitt was the only candidate who wanted to close the border.
I guess that includes JR then, correct? (I love this exchange...)
I am pinging Jim as a courtesy only, once I am refering to him...
To: Jim Robinson
Problem is, according to you, Romneys record consists entirely of the few minutes of video you chose to pay attention to. The remaining years of his record, you dismissed as irrelevant. You had what you wanted and contradicting info was neither considered nor tolerated.
In case you missed this I will repeat: I have known the man for most of my 44 years. The man you describe is no one I know. So, when I heard such garbage being written about him, his wife, his kids, his ancestors and his religion on this site, I tried to give the other side of the story but you insisted that I was a liar and a fraud. Now, primary season can bring out the worst in people but this particular season saw many here on FR sink to new lows and, unfortunately, you, wittingly or not, led the charge.
So it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that people who loathe and detest the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and therefore opposed Romney on that basis, would perceive your attitude as one that was sympathetic to their beliefs. Let me be perfectly clear on this: Your complete lack of integrity and balance regarding Mitt Romney, his candidacy, his family, his religion and his supporters, encouraged the behavior that you now claim to find so distasteful. If you want to address this on this site, you will need to address this issue within yourself first. I intended my first remarks as constructive criticism. Take this posting however you like.

Whatever pal. He ran and governed as a big government abortionist liberal. I dont give a squat about his religion.

I guess he is just another one of us lunatic fringe lying Mitt haters, otherwise know as fact loving COnservatives...
If so, I am in good company then...
BTW he, like myself, is no fan of Romneycare either...
I'm afraid “saving the olympic games” isn't as high on my
list as saving America from terrorism or bankruptcy (moral
or monetary).
Well, when I see the constant lies spread about certain Presidential/VP candidates, that’s when I stand up and set the record straight. It’s sad when a good website like this is harmed by people with an agenda antithetical to its founding. People are entitled to their own opinions about candidates, but they aren’t entitled to their own facts.
Did you support Tom Tancredo?
We know. He was paid off. Go look up the threads when Tancredo stabbed Duncan Hunter in the back. Like I said, some "Conservatives" can be bought off cheap. Now we know Tancredo is a Judas.
As I said, the fact you call all the conservative bastions questionable talking heads & now, paid liberal shills, says mountains of who you are, & more importantly, what your agenda is. It must be lonely as the only true conservative on earth. An enemy among us indeed.
Where’s your proof that he was paid off?
Anyone who wants amnesty and open borders wants to cause major harm to this country.
The victims' families care, even if you do not, Mr. Carville.
Myth Romney let the GOP slide, ignored the GOP candidates,
put liberals in as 'judges' and so the innocents had to die.
Probe: Mitt missed chance to keep Tavares jailed - Could have nixed killers early exit
Friday, December 28, 2007 - Boston Herald
"Former Gov. Mitt Romneys administration failed to act on disciplinary recommendations
that would have kept ex-con killer Daniel Tavares locked up another year -
and behind bars at the time he was accused of killing a newlywed couple in Washington state."
"Despite Tavares long history of violence, the Romney-led Department of Correction
took no action on recommendations that he be stripped of good time because
of assaults on prison guards in 2003 and 2005, said sources familiar with a state probe into the case."
I’ll go toe to toe with you on that any day, bud. I’ve got Conservatives in my corner, you have liberals.
Yeah, better to have that slick liberal Willard, that’ll show those liberals, right ?
No actually, the Founding Fathers did not want women voting for reasons obvious to anybody with half a brain.
To late now though.
America is in decline, my Romney loving friends.
And there isn't much that can be done about it given the current composition of the American electorate.
A marxist Obama or con artist socialist light Romney will occupy the White House.
Good show.
So, are you going to explain why Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt, Judge Robert Bork, William F Buckley, the head of the American Conservative Union and many Evangelical ministers/leaders are all stark raving Liberals?
Paid off?
I’d like to see some proof he was paid off.
Mitt has strong credentials on the border.
Do you care that Romney was paid off (by campaign donations)
and then covered up the BIG-DIG corruption? I thought not.
and Tom Tancredo..
