San Francisco community organizer Julie Lee, whose questionable fundraising helped push former California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley out of politics, has pled guilty to state criminal charges just days after a jury found her guilty on federal charges.
Lee, 62, pleaded guilty to all nine counts brought against her in state court, including grand theft, embezzlement and forgery. The charges relate to an alleged scheme to funnel part of a $500,000 state grant intended for a community center into Shelley's 2002 election campaign.
The community center was never built.
In a statement released today, The San Francisco District Attorney's office said that Lee submitted a false invoice to the state Department of Parks and Recreation to obtain the release of the grant funds and then used the money to reimburse five individuals and companies who wrote $25,000 checks to Shelley's campaign. Lee then covered up the scheme with more false records, according to the statement.
Lee's attorneys, Michael Hinckley and Lidia Stiglich, declined to comment. A sentencing hearing on the state charges is scheduled for Oct. 17. Lee faces a maximum penalty of approximately 14 years in state prison.

The least Shelley can do is go visit her in lock-up..what a skunk.
Any idea who those individuals/companies were?
How far down in the story do you have to go before the word “Democrat” appears?
Party affiliation was not mentioned at all. That means she is a DemocRAT.
Now we know what a Community Organizer does.
Yeah, you have to get down to the second comment to see the Ms. Lee’s party mentioned.
