Some bloggers opposed to Barack Obama say they suspect Obama's supporters with the assistance of Google may have tried to censor them when the Internet giant froze their Web sites for five days last month.
Seven blogs run by Democrats who oppose Obamas nomination for the presidency were incorrectly flagged as spam sites by Blogger, the hosting service Google has owned since 2003. Google says it was an automated response from a spam filter.
But the bloggers believe that Web surfers who support Obama took advantage of a loophole in Bloggers system that allows readers to report spam blogs, the artificial Web sites that abound on the Internet and are used to promote other sites.
"It appears that [Blogger's] policy can be manipulated by people determined to shut down the free exchange of ideas," said Carissa Snedeker, whose blog, BlueLyon, was among those that were frozen.
"Its unusual Ive never heard of similar blogs of the same nature being shut down like that," said Danny Sullivan, editor-in-chief of the tech site SearchEngineLand.com.
Google said in a press release that the blogs were blocked because an automatic spam filter had locked on to those seven Web sites.
"We believe this may have been caused by mass spam e-mails mentioning the Just Say No Deal network of [anti-Obama] blogs, which in turn caused our system to classify the blog addresses mentioned in the e-mails as spam," Google wrote, referring to a coalition of disaffected Democrats who oppose Obama's candidacy.

When it comes to change, I support the First Amendment.
Google is run by liberals, comitted liberals, the first amendment is “not for thee” especially when you are effective..
Try googling images of Barak Obama’s birth certificate.
A few days ago you’d get something like a half million hits, the first pages packed with mostly actual images of his BC.
Today? 75K hits. No images of his BC. A picture of Obama, a horroscope, a Maryland BC, a girl with big tits, a wanted poster, Obama with one of his dad’s other wives, etc.
Does anyone have a link to compiled evidence that Obama is a Muslim or has Muslim sympathies?
Try the same thing on live.com
Hold on while I go check...
Google is so frighteningly obvious as to their bias - they should not be in the business of offering information to the public as very little of it could possibly be accurate.
They may be internet greats but their intellectual level remains in the school yard - absolutely terrified of challenge to their message which may be no more in depth than wishful thinking.
Can you believe the global community thinks Americans are like this gaggle of geese?
Google sucks
“Try the same thing on live.com”
Wow. Staggering difference in results, same keywords.
Yahoo!

Duh!
Look at Google’s CEO’s and founders political contributions and that of its employees. They overwhelmingly give to the Democrat Party.
Obviously IMHO, system engineers at Google are manipulating search results and censoring conservative or Republican sources.
Google = Evil.
Yyyup! That's the definition of a Liberal, alright.
If they keep it up can there be a class action lawsuit??
Google is said to have issued the following statement: “It’s not fascism when we do it!”
“Google sucks”
Yeah, but “Google Earth” is cool. (I think.)
Gosh. Microsoft has a better search engine than google?
Who’d thunk it???
I knew I could get someone to, ummmm, rise to the bait...
Better? That’s arguable. I do use Live exclusively and only use Google on those rare occasions when I can’t find what I want there. Less politicially slanted? Definately.
Last year, my DSL provider switched their e-mail services to Google. I’m not paying to have my e-mail provided by some third party, and I have no way of holding Google accountable for the quality of the service I get or what happens when my e-mail disappears into the cloud. So I switched.
