HARRISBURG -- If the grand jury is correct, the 12 people indicted in a sprawling political corruption case aren't just the center of a court battle. They're the opening shots of a cultural conflict. The grand jury empanelled by state Attorney General Tom Corbett portrayed Suite 626 in the state Capitol as the center of a taxpayer-financed political machine aimed at helping former Rep. Mike Veon and other House Democrats get re-elected. Allegations in the 90-page report, anticipated for more than a year by state lawmakers and their employees, are "a symbolic event of a much larger picture," said Christopher Borick, political science professor at Muhlenberg College in Allentown.

McCain could do a hell of a lot worse than picking this gutsy man as VP, even though he isn't well known outside the state. I predict that he soon will be.
I have this feeling that the only time these people will spend in jail is the time it took for the perp walk and to go through booking.

Corbett, along with Pat Toomey, gives us hope that maybe, just maybe, conservatives have hope for the future in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
What story? Who did what, when?
I wish to make a factual correction: Tom Corbett was not re-elected in 2006. He was elected narrowly in 2004.
His first term as AG was a 1995-1997 appointment to fill out the term of former Attorney General Ernie Preate, who was kicked out of office for corruption. Corbett pledged not to run for re-election then as part of the confirmation process.
“the mere fact that these crooks are tainted and publicly humiliated is cause for celebration. “
Well,,,,, for us maybe. But every dimwit that I know won’t care at all. Because, well. Republicans are worse. That’s the way they think. Republicans are nasty, racist, gun-toting religious nuts, and in the pocket of Bushco.
Typical Democrat response to corruption - Let's have a constitutional convention and change the rules! Is there anyone who believes that a con-con would mean less power for the crooks? Unfortunately, yes. PA is bursting at the seams with moron sheeple who will buy any s--t shoveled to them by the crooks.
I was pleased watching Corbett do his press conference. Not pleased that this has been gotten away with for so long, but pleased that he chose not to be a Spitzer. His humility qualifies him as having remarkable character.
Corbett used to be DA in SW Pennsylvania. While this area is overwhelmingly Democrat, it is the lunch pail Democrats more than the moonbats. They actually respect a man who does his job, even if he happens to be a Republican.
