To: Alas Babylon!
I think many of us women feel we are in a man's world and to cry is not acceptable to us in a way a man could do it and would be heralded as a “new man” and in touch with his feelings and thought to be confident and not unsure of his masculinity. Women on the other hand would be dismissed as being emotional if they did it.

I always remember a trailer for the Apprentice when Martha Stuart was hosting it and a woman said she felt so embarrassed she could cry and Martha's retort to her was “women in business do not cry”.

There is unfortunately still a double standard here and I am certainly not a feminist in any shape or form.

There's also no crying in baseball. Maybe if women in business started acting like women they could concentrate on success and not on conformity to somebody else's standards.
