How much though of Beckel and Colmes is done for media affect. Colmes in particular I often think disagrees with Hannity just for the sake of it because then a couple of days later he will make some other remark that makes you think if you think that why did you disagree the other evening and get into a âfightâ. Me thinks often the producer wants it. The same goes I think for Juan on the Sunday show, listen to him on other shows during the week and it is much more a balanced personality than you get on Sunday. The producer IMHO knows that many of us enjoy the Brit slap downs and probably insists on one every couple of weeks.
Maybe Colmes does it for effect, like a professional wrestler. But Bechel? Every time I see him, regardless of the venue, he comes across as a pompous, arrogant blowhard with an extemely partisan position. If he was putting on a show, he’d slip up every now and then.
Although I enjoy the slapdowns too, they tend to remind me of an exasperated father (Brit) lecturing his errant son (Juan) for the umpteenth time why he can't have the car Friday night.
