Safety warnings a new chapter for fairytales

By Elissa Lawrence

July 13, 2008 12:01am Article from: Sunday Mail (SA)

TEACHERS are being urged to give children safety messages after reading them fairytales warning not to copy characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and Hansel and Gretel.

A new child protection curriculum being implemented by the Education Department also requires teachers to refer to children's "sexual parts" and use their correct anatomical names with children as young as three.

Child development experts have backed the measures, but critics believe they are an example of political correctness overkill that could turn children into "little nervous wrecks".

Parents across SA are being briefed on the impact of the new curriculum, which aims to teach children from preschool upwards the early warning signs of being unsafe and recognising abuse.

Teachers have been trained to be wary of storybooks in which characters put themselves at risk – and to respond by offering safety messages.

Political correctness invades children's literature.

Hey, makes sense to me. Did you know that if you owned a gun
it would make you kill somebody. An expert told me.

By all means, give children warnings about such potentially hazardous situations...

warning: You should never eat your neighbor's house. Also if you are in a forest, be sure you have a GPS so you won't get lost.

Nobody has said, “Yet another reason to homeschool” yet. So I will.

Yet another reason to homeschool.

Wonder what warnings they will have on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”. And Jack’s magic beans deserve a warning. That erect stalk should as well.

How is this one?
Now, children, you know how dangerous those guns they used in the American Revolution were, don’t you? And that is exactly why we don’t have guns any more. Now turn off your lap tops and pay homage to St. Gore and the Great Changer Obama.

At some point soon, we will pass the 50/50 point, hand holders to hand holdees, snotty noses to nose wipers, poopers to flushers.

It is far too late, by about 30 years, to ‘fix’ the public schools. No one should put time or effort into trying.

All time and effort should be used in keeping children out of gov’t schools and encourage/aid home schooling and private schooling.

The first thing that most parents need to know is how much easier it is to home school than they realize. It only takes an average of 2 hours a day to get better teaching/learning time than in the indoctrination warehouses called schools.

Parent/teacher manuals come with the books that lead you, day be day, through the lesson guides. There are Home School groups that you can connect with for advice and interaction for activities, etc.

Also, parents could form a group and rent space during the weekdays from churches for neighborhood schools. Churches already have class rooms, kitchen and bathroom facilities, etc.. and parents could volunteer in rotations for teacher aides, playtime, arts, music, crafts, language, etc...

Home schooled kids have much better relationships with their parents, which makes life easier. They are well rounded as they have more time to spend on other interests and pursuits, are not warehoused all day with just their own age group, but with people of all ages, etc..

The pros go on and on. But the biggest reason for homeschooling is getting our kids out from under the brain washing, mind bending, child abusing control of the Marxists before it is everlastingly too late.
