Instead, delegates were advised to emphasise the harm that any military action would do to Iran's people and heritage. Leftist politics first, academic work second.

leading archaeologists are urging colleagues to refuse any military requests to draw up a list of Iranian sites that should be exempted from air strikes. The article offers no evidence that anyone has asked for their help with anything.
Unless they are digging right over a nuclear facility, or inside the perimeter of a Revolutionary Guard base, or right next to missile battery, they'll probably be alright.

So take out the sites. The muzzies will get rid of them eventually, anyway. Not muzzie, ya know. Nothing is valuable enough to allow some muzzie nut to usher in Armageddon.

As with the Caliph’s dictate regarding the Library of Alexandria, if it contradicts the Koran, it’s blasphemous, and if it supports it, it’s superfluous. They’ll eventually erase those sites, just as the Taleban did to the cliff Buddhas.

colleagues to refuse any military requests to draw up a list of Iranian sites that should be exempted from air strikes... OK, but you'll need a finer screen when you sift through the artifacts.

Yet leading archaeologists are urging colleagues to refuse any military requests to draw up a list of Iranian sites that should be exempted from air strikes. "Such advice would provide cultural credibility and respectability to the military action, They must feel so self-rightious right now. Look at me. I am so morally superior.

what if the Iranians asked for help in not targeting Israeli sites of archeological significance?

Instead, delegates were advised to emphasise the harm that any military action would do to Iran's people and heritage. But OTOH,a nuclear armed Iran ruled by 9th Century knuckledraggers who routinely call for the destruction of Israel while chanting "allah akbar" wouldn't cause a lick of damage to anyone.

We really, really, need to stop worrying about these sites. I don’t care if our enemies are hiding in the Sistine Chapel. If that is where they are, that is where we should bomb.

It will certainly prevent looting afterward.

It will certainly prevent looting afterward. The mullahtocracy has already seen to it that there's nothing worth looting to loot.
I'm just trying to be considerate of these poor academic types: can you imagine what a mess there'll be if they have to separate pre-historical rubble from historical rubble and contemporary rubble? And don't get me started on separating Betty Rubble from Barney Rubble - geez get a room, u 2, what are you, savages, cave-people?
Anyway... if it brings Imam #12 out of his hidy-hole, I'm all for it.

“et leading archaeologists are urging colleagues to refuse any military requests to draw up a list of Iranian sites that should be exempted from air strikes.”
Then we should bomb them. Western civilization was at best tangentially affected by persia/iran. We are mainly greco/roman in origin, so persia’s relics and sites don’t factor into our history.
Bomb them back into the age from which they came..

What I meant was, it will save the networks the trouble of looping the same 10-second video of the fat guy carrying a 4-ft vase out of the building repeatedly.

You're a charitable person, unfortunately, I'm not. Nothing -- including shipping a fake Persian vase and a fat Italian from a curio shop on 38th Avenue for an "essentially true dramatization" will keep the nets from looping that looter.

The article didn’t mention any warning issued to Iran about archaeological damage caused by the threatened strikes on Israel. But then there wasn’t any.
