- a week after prison release

A violent sex attacker who warned he would strike again raped a woman just days after being released from prison.

While serving a prison sentence for rape David Harrison, 45, had told probation officers there was a 'nine of of ten' chance he would strike again.

Despite his shocking threats prison authorities were powerless to hold him and Harrison was released on licence after serving two thirds of a 14-year sentence.

Just one week later he carried out a horrific sex attack on a woman, raping her and plunging a knife into her neck before leaving her for dead.

Yesterday he was beginning a minimum 20 year sentence after being convicted of rape at Bradford Crown Court.

The jury heard Harrison was a serial criminal with a history of violent sex attacks stretching back almost 30 years and was first convicted or rape in 1979.

Three years later he was jailed for biting the cheek of a woman as he indecently assaulted her, and in 1987 he assaulted a 19-year-old woman with a knife.

In May 1993 he was convicted of having unlawful sex with a girl aged 12 and causing her actual bodily harm.

Released in late 1995 he attacked and raped a woman in Leeds it was in March 1996 and was jailed for 14 years.

Well, I hope he behaves better the next time they let him out. I imagine he's got 3 or 4 years to get ready for his next big chance.

What exactly is the point of the criminal justice system in Britain? Why pay all those judges and lawyers to make this system run when the end result is just as though you'd done nothing?

The Europeans are liberal. That means they don’t really want to punish people, even murderers aren’t imprisoned that long. Just think of what the liberals allow dictators to do to people and then you’ll understand how they tolerate and coddle the murderers in their own midst. It’s the same enlightened attitude that brought us successes like Hitler and WWII.

Perhaps members of the victims family should pay a visit to those responsible for letting this monster free...

Actually, I think that, by and large, liberals dislike crime just as much as you or I, and I'd even say they favor punishment for criminals.

But they've got a little problem -- something that affects conservatives, too, just on different issues.

Just like conservatives, liberals have a set of ideological beliefs, which they tend to value above merely practical considerations, and which they enforce despite practical arguments against them.

In the case of criminal justice, their beliefs cause them to (for example) release dangerous criminals due to a general philosophical belief that criminals can be rehabilitated. That may even be true, in most cases.

But in an ideological world there is no room for exceptions, no matter how warranted that exception may be in a particular case. And thus some criminals, like this monster, are beyond rehabilitation, but the rules require them to be released, when instead they should be permanently removed from society.

Conservatives -- and even moreso libertarians -- are likewise prone to this sort of thing, and it's definitely a failing.

In terms of impact, however, I think the liberal version tends to be more destructive because it is more rooted in utopian desires, than it is in considerations of "whether or not it works."

Yeah, I’ve heard that too...that castration does not work because sex is in the mind! Maybe Lobotomy will work...I like it.

With time served he will be out in 10 years. And here in America liberals decry our "three strikes" laws. When it comes to sexual assault, a "one strike" law is better. Preferably the death penalty.

Gee, if it were me in prison for a vigilante justice killing of this guy and said I would do it again, they would have kept me locked up.

For improperly sorting their trash or having an unauthorized barbeque.
