So the price increases we all are experiencing, aren’t real? We don’t really have the right to complain about new drilling for oil, or the price of medical, housing, utilities, transportation or food?

Wow, that’s good to know. Now if I could just get this gas pump to understand...

In what “free republic” or “free economic system” is the federal government responsible for economic conditions?

Calling for real solutions to real challenges, like removing government blocks on domestic oil production needed to keep pace with increased world consumption, can in NO way be defined as “whining.”

But how about seven years of talking the economy into the toilet around the clock?

The point of the statement, and the article is on the condition of the economy overall, not on commodity prices.

The “whiners” referred to are the gloom and doom, The-economy-is-in-a-recession-and-we’re-all-going-to-die-if-we-don’t-socialize-everything bunch.

Of course, Gramm is right up to a point. But other factors seem to have entered the picture such as the manipulation of the market by the Arab suppliers and Soros controlled Hedge funds.

But there should be no question, talking down the market for almost 8 years has had a significant affect on what we see today.

It would be helpful if Gramm and others who make controversial remarks would take a moment to explain their positions and maybe educate the public. (and candidates)

You still have a job, don’t you? Unemployment is still at way less than 6%, isn’t it? You must not remember the Carter years when unemployment was over 8% and inflation was 15%.

LOL, well if you I could only get a dollar for every one of your complaints I WOULD be a Millionaire. : ) Just kidding!

When I heard the Gramm’s full statement, it didn't come off the nasty way people like yourself are interpreting the news reports.

For instance the “housing crunch”, I just learned today that a simple townhouse down the block sold in one week with three offers. My neighbors just sold a two flat in Bridgeport after ONLY one hour on the market with seven offers coming in. So, despite all the WHINING in the news, people are getting loans to buy houses. I believe Gramm was really speaking about the idiot business news reporters that make it sound that everyone is homeless, with no jobs, no savings - no nothing!
