Hot-on-the-heels of news that Darren Aronofsky may be directing MGM's Robocop reboot, the studio has announced plans to remake another '80s feature in the shape of Red Dawn.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red Eye scribe Carl Ellsworth will pen the script, which will update the story to modern day.
"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," explains Ellsworth.
"As Red Dawn scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"

You would bring that movie up. Talk about implausible. :-)

I find your assumptions and your assessments as flawed as the addition to a TYPE II ERROR.
Enjoy the bliss while it lasts.
I’m an optimist . . . God wins in the end. It was legally finished at Calvary.
There are some very messy details to the GRAND OBJECT LESSON FINALE, however.

Patrick Swayze was all over the place back then. We can’t forget, “The Outsiders.”

Red Dawn was huge at our "guns-in-pickups" high school! Many a bus ride to road games or away matches had discussions of how we'd form the resistance when the commies came...
Deer rifles, shotguns, varmint guns and plenty of outdoors experience was seen as a strength. However, being on the wind-swept northern plains was definitely going to make it hard for us to lead raids from a mountain hideaway...
I still love the movie but looking back now I'm a little sheepish about how it and Vision Quest had huge impacts on me at the time. It was fun to break from the huddle, locker room or practice with a shout of "Wolverines!" However, twenty-some years later it was a little embarrassing to run into an underclassman who greeted me as "Loudon Swain"...

Quite a cast in that one. (Loved the book when I was young.)

"As Red Dawn scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"With an attitude like this, they're off to a good start. LOL

Let's see...Islamofascist sleeper cells here in America are activated and hold important infrastructures hostage, (dams, power plants, Wall St., etc...) take over small towns with Jihad tactics (beheadings, re-education camps, bombings, etc...) and force everyone to become "Muzzle 'ems" or be killed. But the gun owners of America fight back and kill them all with hunting rifles and 'evil' black guns. While they're at it, they kill all the pinko commies and red diaper doper babies as well as traitors in the government. In the end, we win. Hurrah!
I can dream at least, can't I?

This may be a more accurate listing of secret House meetings:
The House met frequently in secret session until the end of the War of 1812. The House has met in closed session only 6 times since 1825. The following is a full list of those sessions, along with their dates and the reasons they were called:
Reason Date(s)
Electronic Surveillance of Terror Suspects March 13, 2008 (10:11pm-11:09pm)[1]
U.S. support for paramilitary operations in Nicaragua July 19, 1983
Involvement of Cuba and communist countries in Nicaragua February 25, 1980
Implementing the Panama Canal Act of 1979 June 20, 1979
Trade between the U.S. and Great Britain May 27, 1830
Relations with Indian tribes December 27, 1825
So what was it this time? Looming economic collapse sounds like a very good guess, but...
