Red Dawn Returns (Wolverine Remake)
IGN UK ^ | July 9, 2008 | Chris Tilly

Posted on 07/11/2008 6:40:41 AM PDT by tlb

Hot-on-the-heels of news that Darren Aronofsky may be directing MGM's Robocop reboot, the studio has announced plans to remake another '80s feature in the shape of Red Dawn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red Eye scribe Carl Ellsworth will pen the script, which will update the story to modern day.

"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," explains Ellsworth.

"As Red Dawn scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"

Sorry Erin Grey was on Buck Rogers!

Oh! LMAO! I kept thinking, "Wasn't Erin Grey on Happy Days?" That was Erin Moran.

I hope you can laugh comfortably several more years yet.

Wish I believed that was going to be the case.

Why? You mean a couple high school kids with AKs couldn’t ambush and defeat the Soviet Army?

Hey, they weren't "a couple high school kids," dude. They were Calumet High School Wolverines!

Evidently you don’t know any military personnel who’ve personally seen US personnel training KGB etc. on our military bases in this country.

Nor, evidently, have you talked to Marine trainers who’ve questioned our military personnel about whether they would be willing to shoot their own relatives on command in this country.

She was an unfortunate looking girl.
Erin Grey was pretty hot in her 23rd century body suit!
Its funny how all these names just kind of meld together.

Heehee, okay, you don't necessarily believe that a man could survive a small nuclear blast by diving off a cliff into a river and you don't believe that a helicopter in flight, could stay airborne in such close proximity to such a blast. I get that.

But do you believe a monster crab-faced space alien guy could set off such a bomb? Or is that unbelievable also because it's probably too difficult for monster crab-faced space aliens to acquire the proper materials and intelligence to create and deliver such a nuclear device?

Do they even have nuclear capabilities in other galaxies? How could they make a believable movie about monster crab-faced space alien guys when we don't have the facts about the nuclear capacity of their home galaxies?!

Have habitually scanned a wide variety of inputs since 1962.

Quality dreams and visions by folks with a close relationship with God are only one slice of that vast collection of varied sources.

Try MSM reports of the secret meeting around spring time.

You might try and wind up the cheeky skepticism another 10 notches. The resulting dance would be fun to watch.

My favorite of that genre was the long miniseries “Amerika”, with Chris Kristoffersen.

But I haven’t seen it in years, and it’s not even available for rent from Blockbuster online so far as I can tell.

I did like Red Dawn, which means they will probably screw it up, like the idiots who made the new Andromeda Strain movie for A&E.

I’m more interested to learn how that alien could do that invisable, chameleon thing. Pretty cool. Can’t wait ‘til we get that technology.

Not only was it crap...
I was stupid enough to waste nearly four hours of what's left
of my life watching it!

A small band of kids defeating the entire Soviet and Cuban army certain is not plausible, but that is not what was depicted in the movie.

It was a small group of high school kids tying up and hassling the occupying forces of a single town. You can assume there were many similar groups in other occupied town across the country. That, in combination with the US Military is what defeated the Soviet and Cuban forces. As well as our allies keeping them busy on other fronts.

And looking at history (Afghanistan, Iraq, etc), yes, I think it is very plausible.

Didn’t a Japanese General/Admiral say invading the US during WWII was impractical because they would find an armed citizen behind every door?

In other words, you are just another doom monger.

Back in 1962, before the Internet was all the rage, did you wear a sandwich board on a busy street corner claiming that the end is neigh while ringing a bell?

It must be nice to be able to spread your visions from God from the comfort of your living room now.
