Obama’s Berlin Gambit
Cross Action News ^ | 7-11-08 | Stephen Brown

There are no shortcuts to history, but don’t tell that to Barack Obama. In his ongoing campaign to appropriate John F. Kennedy’s aura, the presumptive Democratic nominee has accepted an invitation to speak in Berlin later this month.

It’s not unusual for American presidential candidates to visit Germany’s capital in an election year. But the venue Obama’s handlers have chosen – Berlin’s symbolic and history-laden Brandenburg Gate – is obviously intended to recall Kennedy’s famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech in Berlin in 1963. The political subtext is clear: “BHO” is JFK’s political heir.

“BHO is JFK’s political heir.” How did this get by the editor? It is not politically correct to call attention to the H. The proper abbreviation is BO - with all that that implies.

Kennedy went to Berlin and announced "I am a jelly donut."

Barack's advisors need to consult a German phrase book and find out how to say in German "I am a chocolate eclair."

Obama was about a week old when the Berlin Wall went up. His efforts to stop the wall were about as energetic and effective as JFK's. It's truly amazing how many similarities there are between JFK and Obama, once you start to look for them.

What was a JFK major accomplishment?
And don't say getting shot!

He was a superb alchemist.

Turned a small piece of lead into Liberal Sainthood.

He said “similarities”, not “accomplishments”.

For it is written that the antiChrist will receive a grievous head wound.

Yet the False Prophet, aka LSM, will give a voice to the Beast.

And yea, the people will say, "Who can make war with the Beast?"

"Verily, he is clean and articulate, and hath slain the Whore of Babble-On...you know."

I got that part since it was right there in the quote I posted. I'm well aware of the empty suited similarities. I just wanted to know something major that JFK did.

You just HAD to go there didn’t you? I tried folks, but N. Theknow didn’t care (and neither do I).

Well, I suppose I could have mentioned how he single-handedly raised cement and barbed-wire futures in the Eastern Bloc countries.

Or was able to reduce the inventory of surplus body bags after The Bay of Pigs.

Or made Fidel Castro bite through his cigar when Kennedy finally discovered those hangy-down things that Revrund Jesse threatened to remove from Obambi.

Is that better?

He was popular not great. Could have been though.

Kennedy's popularity was far higher posthumously, thanks to intensive PR directed largely by Jackie, than it ever was when he was alive-- in the US at any rate. He was very popular in Europe(sound familiar?).

Yes it does. I remember though while he was alive he was pretty popular.

The south though was not happy with him, that is why he went to Texas. Also I think about a month before he went to Florida.

Will this be his:

“Ich bin ein Ostberliner” speech or his

“Mr Gorbachev, rebuild this wall!” speech?
