One thing is clear: renewable energy is not going to save the U.S. anytime soon. I don't know why or how people see renewable energy as a short-term answer. Think about it, even with federal subsidies, tax breaks, and record high energy prices, renewable energy still has not made a dent in the energy market. Renewable energy might be a long-term answer, I can't say. I'm just amazed that people look at it as such an option without realizing how incredibly expensive it is. The federal subsidies and tax breaks still haven't made it very competitive and people still rely on gasoline. I don't know, it's just a frustrating thing to see this blind support for "renewable energy" when it's been a huge waste of time and money when the government tries to create the industry. Let the market decide.

can we work a deal with Mexico to help them develop more oil resources, and them send us more oil? And in exchange, more Mexicans in the U.S. can go home and work in their oil industry, and make good money doing it? This seems like a natural because I’ve heard that Pemex is an inefficient bureaucracy in the way they manage the Mexican oil and gas business.
Could be a win-win situation if it ever happens. Mexico should certainly be getting much more income from it with the high prices on world oil markets.
If Mexico were run by rational people, that would work well.
Mexico, however, is a narco-kleptocracy, and the domestic oil industry is the source of many handouts, viewed with fawning adulation.
The powers-that-be in Mexico are absolutely and fanatically over-my-dead-body opposed to any foreign associations with Pemex.
The day will come when Mexico becomes an oil importer.
Re: You’re tagline.
Did you misspell duh?
Your.
I can’t believe I did that...
D’oh!!!
Not until they change their laws. Mexico forbids foreign investment in their petroleum industry.
Some of their politicians have been trying to change it, but oil has long been their cash cow. Of course that is their main problem, they siphoned so much money off it they didn't keep up investment in the industry itself.
No we can't. According to the most popular portion of the Mexican constitution, only the Mexican national oil company PEMEX is allowed to drill for oil and gas in Mexico, and all minerals are owned by the state not the surface land owner. Outside investors are prohibited by law.
I cant believe I did that...
We could always just claim it null and void.
;-)
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
Someone should mention this to the Communist Democrats that think the US oil industry should be nationalized...OH yeah did anyone see that NASA announced that Global Warming is OVER and that policy makers better be planning for Global COoling....time to short Al Gore!
